FORTY or FOURTY which is correct?

FORTY or FOURTY which is correct?
I seem to see both used. I never know which is correct when I write a
check or something like that.

"forty" is correct. This is a straightforward dictionary question -
there's no discussion to be had:

FORTY, never FOURTY, but note FOURTEEN and FOURTH
also FORTH as in GO FORTH.

A dictionary is good for answering questions like yours. See
for example www.m-w.com (US) or
www.askoxford.com/dictionaries/ (UK).
