How to say correctly 'run program' in the past? Is 'I ran program' OK?

If you mean computer program, then yes; but a definite or indefinite
article would be used, unless the name of the program itself is given.
For example, 'I run this program every morning' or 'I ran a program
yesterday' or 'I am running that program now'.

As in "I ran Excel" or "I ran World of Warcraft".
