In the song "The girl is mine", Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney sing :
The doggone girl is mine.

What does it mean, " the doggone girl " ?
Is it slang ? I couldn't find it in my dictionaries.

"Doggone" is a mild (safe-for-kids) form of the oath "damn", which is used
as an intensifier.

"The doggone girl is mine" means "She's really, really mine." It does not
reflect directly on the girl. (It reflects more on the attitude of the
speaker, who is willing to discuss her as a posession.)
