What does the T stand for in T316 stainless Steel? Is it the same as 316?

I'm not sure what the T stands for but it has been used for 40 years at my
place of work.
T316 and 316 are the same thing.
We have also used 316SS (for stainless Steel)
Now they are suggesting we use CRES 316 (for Corrosion REsistant Steel)

The T stands for TYPE 316. That's all.

KISS seems to be the rule... and to think I never knew this answer or
bothered to ask for umpteen years

Thanks
