Burgess Meredith, Walter Matthau and Ann-Margret all have something in common:
they were all in the movie "Grumpy Old Men," and they were all in Elvis movies.
I wonder if they swapped Elvis stories on the set of "GOM." Guess we'll never
know.

Well, Ann-Margret is on Larry King's show from time to time and there never
fail to be a couple Elvis questions. Maybe next time that could be one.

Ann won't tell you anything about Elvis. She gives the hosts permission to
ask her about Elvis all the time but she always refuses to answer anything.
She has a little game going there with them.

Isn't that because she shot off her mouth about them being engaged to be
married, after they did "Viva Las Vegas?"
Elvis was furious, and it was written that that was one of the reasons
Elvis dumped Ann, her BIG mouth.
Now, it seems Ann is on a quest to make it up to Elvis somehow.
Oh well.....TOO LATE!

We all know that Elvis wasn't ready to settle down at that time in his life.
But if he hadn't had Priscilla waiting for him in Memphis and he would have
married Ann, perhaps he would have changed his skirt-chasing ways for her. Or
maybe not. It's one of those big "what ifs."

Marty, what are your thoughts on this?

Where did you read that Elvis dumped her? I've never heard it put quite that

In the "Revelations" book, one of the guys said he ran across Ann one day after
the breakup. He asked her, "what happened? I thought you two were in love."
Ann replied, "I thought we were, too! Ask your boss!"

Ann is not that way and that is not why Elvis decided to marry Priscilla.

It wasn't mutual it had to do with Elvis' being threatened with a lawsuit if
he didn't marry Priscilla. It hurt Ann and didn't set well with her when
Elvis abruptly stopped seeing her without any explanation. However, she
handledd it very well publicly.

It was just Elvis' way of alleviating the temptation of fooling around with
Ann once he knew he had to marry Priscilla.

If Ann does not want to talk about him that's fine (even though Lisa used to
get trashed for not talking about him) but why go through the whole routine
that she does with the talk shows? Just say ahead of time that you don't
want to talk about him instead of telling them that she will and then doing
the shy routine on air. The same thing happens with all of her TV
appearances.

On the other hand Cybil revealed too much. I think she was the only woman he
was involved with who actually went to the point of talking about what they
did in the sack and whether he was good at it or not and then using it as a
joke on the talk shows.

Mary Tyler Moore always talks about him now when she makes tv appearances
saying that she was the only one of his leading ladies that he didn't boink.

I've seen some of those interviews where she said she thought she was the
only leading lady not to be boinked by Elvis but she wasn't the only one. Donna
Douglas was another. The relationship was strictly platonic at least as far as
Elvis was concerned but it may not have been the case for Douglas. I recall
there was an episode of E!'s Hollywood True Story on the "Beverly Hilbillies" a
few years ago in which Paul Henning's wife said Donna was heartbroken because
either Elvis wasn't interested or was leading her on.
Don't remember which it was but had doubts about the claim as E! has a
tendency to favoring the more sensational claims. Douglas herself wasn't
interviewed so whether she truly was heartbroken is anyone's guess.

More or less but he probably would have liked to have both of them.

But the fact is he wasn't ready to marry anyone at the time.

i did not say Ann was the reason Elvis married priscilla either. He married
her because her father threatened a lawsuit. That fact was told to me by
Elvis the day he asked me to be the Best Man. That was late Nov. '66.

Speak of MTM, she was in the news here last week for a kooky story about a
falcon nest that was on a Fifth Ave luxury building.
Paula Zahn's husband was the head of the co-op board that evicted the falcons
and the kooks spent a week harrassing the building's residents with all the
media attention your heart could desire. One really big bird loving kook
started really harrassing Paula Zahn and her kids in particular and he was
busted for it and to his rescue, Mary Tyler Moore.
The TV footage has joker face crying all over the bird lover after she bailed
him out of jail.
She really looks frightening.

No kidding, same here!
I'm not sure which of Elvis's leading ladies is a lesbian but I figure it
couldn't have been any of the ladies he dated (although I'll admit I could be
wrong) or any female co-star who wasn't considered the female lead in an Elvis
movie.
I remember seeing Pam Austin constantly in the 60s on TV and in a few movies.
She struck me as being so super straight, she seemed out of place in Hollywood,
so normal. She's the last person one would suspect yet sometimes that turned
out to be the case. She also seems to have disappeared and hasn't been heard
from or seen anything on her in years, so she is something of a mystery.
I figured Joan Freeman was the more likely candidate although here again, I
could be wrong. I seem to recall she was one of a few Elvis leading ladies who
wasn't very well liked by the male fans on this group. That kind of negativity
is very unusual.
And while it might be a stretch into reading her body language in the movies
she appeared in, she appeared to be cold and aloof whenever she was in a scene
with a male costar as though she didn't like the person at all. Even though it
only an acting job.
Course, I'm probably wrong about her too.

Bloody hell...didn't even think of her. Strangely, I did consider Dolores
Hart because for years it was reported she had committed suicide after she
became a nun. Never a reason given as to why but it didn't matter as she was
and is still living, last I heard.
If memory serves, I believe she was interviewed two or three years ago on one
of the religious cable channels and was asked about her relationship with
Elvis. She spoke very briefly about Elvis but didn't really offer anything and
was very respectful of his memory.

Scary, indeed...Paula Zahn being married with kids, I mean.
As for Mary, seems like every time she turns up on TV, she appears to have
aged another ten years or so since the last time she was seen. Sometimes, she
has a spacey look on her face like she either dropped out or dropped in from
somewhere and doesn't remember where or doesn't care.

i don't necessarily dislike her and she's not a bad person but if you ever

She's tall, skinny as a rail, legs like matchsticks and her upper teeth
