Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of rock and roll legend, Elvis
Presley, opened up to Elle magazine about how it felt for her to reach
the age that her father was when he passed away.
Presley admits that when she turned 42 two years ago, the realization
that her father never made it past his 42nd birthday was worrisome for
her. The fear was exacerbated by the fact that her grandmother passed
away at the age of 42 as well.
“It freaked me out,†she told Elle. She continued,
“It was my grandmother as well [who died at] the same age, and I
was like, ‘What are my odds here?’â€
Presley was only eight years old when her father died, and the media
attention that she received at that time and continuously thereafter was
very difficult for her to deal with. As a young woman she struggled with
drug use and other behaviors that were deemed questionable by the media,
such as her famous marriage to pop legend, Michael Jackson.
However, now a mother of four children â€" Riley Keough, 22,
Benjamin Keough, 19, Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann
Lockwood â€" and married to Michael Lockwood, Presley feels as if
her troubled past is far behind her.
While everything may look good on paper for Presley, the singer claims
that she still finds it hard to be happy, according to Elle.
“It’s hard for me to be happy because I’m always
worried about something going awry, or what could happen to screw
up,†she says.
One thing she can check off of her list of worries is not being able to
see past her 42nd birthday, like her father and grandmother. Since
celebrating her 42nd birthday, when she thinks about the fact that her
father wasn’t able to meet his grandchildren and son-in-law,
Presley admits to the magazine that she does “get
emotional.â€
Lisa Marie Presley is set to release her third album, Storm and Grace,
on May 15, Artist Direct reports.
