The Most Underrated Elvis Song

"Rags To Riches" made its debut as a single in 1971. The song never
charted. The song never did appear in any other album or compilation
ever since, as a matter of fact, RCA never re-issued it for another 24
years !! Rags to Riches finally made its way to CD in 1995 in the 70's
box set. Why did it take so long for RCA to realize that Rags To
Riches is one of Elvis best performances ever ? Not only did it have a
dramatic feel to it, as in "Hurt", but its a damm good song !

Rags to Riches was issued in europe 1988 on cd.
Elvis collection vol 4.It was also released on the
compilation Lp "Hits of the 70`s" in the mid 70`s.
I agree Rags to Riches is a great song.

I have always thought "Just Pretend" is one of Elvis' "hidden gems".
Only the hard core fan knows this tune. And of course it doesn't hurt
the fact that it is on video. I believe "Just Pretend" is one of the
highlights of "Elvis-The Concert." Great song and an AWESOME
performance.

Oh, dear! One of my all time favs! I love everything Elvis did with maybe the
exception of Yoga Is As Yoga Does. LOL But my top favs are Just Pretend and

For my money, "And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind" is one of the finest of the
overlooked Presley tracks/performances.

Okay....I consider myself a "Hardcore" Elvis fan, but totally sane.....yet,
I have never heard "Just Pretend." Why? Where can I hear it to see if the
rumor is true??

I would imagine you can hear it on Jordan's site. My recommendation, tho
would be to purchase the video,'The Lost Performances'. It is
astounding...

I finally got to hear Neil Diamonds version of this song. I must say, Elvis
stoled the song. I remember a long time ago maybe on a AM radio staion someone
questioning Neil on Elvis's version of that song . I don't totally recall his
reply.Something kinda positive to the effect of Elvis comming back as a
contemporary performer .

I feel that "Life" is one of the truly underrated ones! I love that song, it has a certain "feel" to it.
Elvis is great as some kind of narrator about life, as it is described in the song.
I also think the flutes(?) and "whosching" sounds by the back-up singers enhances the song! It's a true gem!

For me the most underrated song from the sixties is Too Much Monkey
Business. From the 70愀 T-R-O-U-B-L-E. And from the 50愀 Too Much.

I also agree with that. It's a great performance of a great song.My

I like "Wonderful World" from "Live A Little, Love A Little"...I feel
thats a very underrated song. I agree with "Just Pretend", also "Mary In
The Morning" and "The Sound Of Your Cry". I think the most underrated
song from the 50's is "Is It So Strange". There's many more, however,
that I think didn't get the credit they deserved.

How about "It Hurts Me" - it really has a nice feel when Elvis lays into
it - I didnt particularly care for the video in the comeback special of it
which I dont think was aired originally for being too sleasy (?) in its
time,but to listen to tape, cd, whatever, just another example of our guy
turning out another great hit!

You are right on this one. Its beautifully done.Its got a nice feel even when
elvis does'nt lay into it.A superb song
