1 What is this newsgroup about?

Newsgroup intention is to centralise the discussion of economics science in general and its application to actual economies, which was being discussed on different mailing lists in the past. The discussion of the mentioned issues can of course include current challenges of higher education in the field of economics.

2 What is the history of the newsgroup?

February 8, 2001: newsgroup was proposed in alt.config by Miroslav Verbic. There was some well-intentioned response for which I especially have to thank BarB.

 

February 20, 2001: control message was sent by Vera Heinau, the FU Berlin newsmaster. Newsgroup was actually created on the first news server - news.cis.dfn.de. Here are some fragments from that message:

February, 2001: newsgroup has been created on news.arnes.si and news.uni-mb.si. This was very important for our target audience. I would like to thank the ARNES newsmasters and Milan Lesnik from RCUM at this occasion.

February 20, 2002: newsgroup exists for one year. It has been created on many news servers and its messages are accessible all around the world through the NNTP protocol.

March 14, 2002: booster control message was sent by Vera Heinau, the FU Berlin newsmaster. Here are some fragments from that message:

February, 2003: newsgroup has been added to Google Groups (formerly DejaNews). New it can be reached all over the world through the HTTP interface of groups.google.com. I would like to thank the Google newsmasters at this occasion.

February 20, 2006: newsgroup exists for five years. Its messages are accessible all around the World through the NNTP protocol and Google Groups.

3 Which languages can be used here?

English language is preferred at alt.economics.miroslav-verbic, but others can be used as well, especially Slovenian, German and French.

4 Are there any exceptions or other important notes to remember?

Yes, there are some notes which should be remembered. Namely, the newsgroup is not moderated. HTML posting is permitted, however one should keep in mind that not all users have HTML newsgroup access. Binaries are generally not allowed.
