APIs for customer login

Hello All,
Im starting an eCommerce project with a twist; I needs to be dynamically controlled and private. Customer logins need to be pushed to the purchase portal, along with product, groupings, discounts etc. I know lots of eCommerce solutions have RESTful APIs to push products, categories and stuff - but I cant find anyone (8 hours of google is enough) who can show they can manage that kind of thing out of the box. In this case - it would be a difficult to have an modified off the shelf solution - ex: Magento with customized everything... Lol. Customer wants a very batch driven web site with private sales. Without mods - they oddly are open to a hosted platform.
