Yes, the auto manufacturers should be made to pay for their
inefficient designs. The technology is there already,
it's just not utilized.

Actually, I thought that was hog-farming, or the dumping of
toxic waste. Or do you mean there's a new emission law
banning the catalytic converter, which is the reason
industrialized nations have 3 times the level of heavy metal
pollution, and a commeasurate amount of cancer?

Auto makers build what Americans want to buy. It's purely money driven and
has nothing to do with environmental or moral responsibility. If you pay
they will build it!
