Hello, all! I have a question about online shopping for DVD's. Ordering
DVD's on the Internet is my very last resort to finding one. The only time
I've ordered a DVD over the Internet was with AMAZON.COM, and the experience
was satisfactory. However, the need has arisen again.

I can't find "Weird Al" Yankovic's Video Collection on DVD in my town
anymore. It was released in 1998, and it has 21 of his greatest videos.
AMAZON.COM has it for $26.99, I believe.

I would still like to price-shop, and I would like to buy the DVD new. I've
heard of a dozen other excellent places to buy DVD's, but which, in your
opinion(s), are just as great as AMAZON.COM? Please give me some information
and reviews of past experiences with other online DVD retailers. Thank you
very much!

I've had very good experiences with www.DVDplanet.com.

DVD Empire (www.dvdempire.com) usually has prices a few dollars cheaper
than Amazon.com. I have used both, BTW. Another advantge of DVD Empire is
that they ship new releases to you so they will be in your hands on the
release date. Amazon.com won't ship until the actual release date. Small
advantage, but significant to me....

You also might try www.dvdplanet.com. I've also had good luck with them.

I did my search at DVD Planet. They had "Weird Al" Yankovic's video
collection listed under $20, but it was out of stock. :-(

Just don't order from dvdexpress (now recently changed to dvd.com) (from
what I've been reading)

http://www.resellerratings.com/seller709.html

and some more info from the BBB:

One place that got high reviews on resellerratings.com was
http://deepdiscountdvd.com - I've never ordered from them, but they seem to
be great from what I've been reading.

try deepdiscountdvd.com. The shipping is free but slow. So if you
don't mind ordering today and getting it in about 8 or 9 days then they
will be close to the best price IF they have it.

I've never bought a DVD anywhere _but_ on-line. I can't see ANY reason to go
into the overpriced mall stores and pay $5 more for a DVD just so I can have
it in my hands immediately. Sometimes buying locally is a good deal, but not
usually.

Check out www.dvdpricesearch.com - Not only will you be able to find the best
price on any DVD (or combination of DVD's, from multiple stores if it's
cheaper), but you'll get a concise rating of each retailer based on customer
feedback (and if you don't want to shop from the places that aren't rated
well, you can exclude those stores in your search for a disc's best price).

I couldn't agree more. I have tried several different and IMO, DVDEmpire
(www.dvdempire.com) works best for me, YMMV. It has a lot of nice features
such as very good order configuration and customization as well as more
control over shipping methods and changes to your orders. Their prices
are fair and sometimes can beat everyone else but typically I use it more
for the convience and the great wish list feature. The con is that they
never tell me when a DVD goes out of print and will not be coming in. I have
had a couple of istances where I missed chances at a DVD waiting for my order
that will never come in.

IMO, a great tool to compliment on-line shopping is DVD Profiler. You can
check that out at www.dvdprofiler.com .

Hope this helps,
