An alt.dss.hack clan. Now wouldn't that be something. I play Q2 but I
haven't jumped on the Q3 wagon yet.

NASCAR, WWF, NFL, and Quake. You're speaking my language. Everything
except the Star Trek stuff.

Nope, never in a clan. Just a few friends who Q2 deathmatch every once in
awhile. It's really difficult to play sometimes since we are all stuck with
connection speeds of around 42K. Pings get real high during a big fire
fight. The guy who's serving has an advantage. Within a year we should
have cable modem access around here so that should help. I got into Quake
late. Only been playing for about a year and a half so I never got to play
Q1.

Depends.. How fast id yer 'puter? I got a cyrix 300 and I've talked
to guys I fought against that KILLED me repeatedly, and they're using
P-II's P-III's and dual processor games...

I actually talked to a guy who lived nearby who was using dual
P-III-500's, and he showed me his setup.. I played on his old P233-mmx
agains him and he was fraggin me left and right.. We switched and I
could run circles around him and he'd never see me..

The moral of the story is, I'll play, but only against comparable
machines...

A couple of years ago, our state legislature was considering
regulating professional wrestling. Hearings were held during which
this exchange took place:

Senator: "But isn't it true that the outcome of any given match is
known in advance?"

Pro Wrestler: "You know, Senator, I've seen "Hamlet" maybe fifty
times. I know how it's going to end. I still enjoy the show."

Our legislature, in its infinite wisdom, declined to regulate
professional wrestling.

I have the Q2 CD, but for some reason it doean't want to install into
my win98...

If you have the time to download a ~50MB file, go to
http://www.quake3world.com and get the arena demo..

When you start the game, with a few clicks you're on the net searching
for arena servers.. Pick one, wait a minute for the came to load, and
frag fest against 1 to 31 other people.. (at least the biggest server
I've seen holds 32)

Q2 on cd, and Q3 demo. With the Q3 arena demo, you do get to play
with other people on the servers.. I dunno if there's any special
servers, but on any I've tried they all work..

Yep! You know the place.. <G> ..often copied, never duplicated.

For those of you that have never been here, Nick's has the ugliest
cashiers and cooks they can find, the greasiest food you have ever seen,
served in huge portions, topped with onions, mustard, and their own
homemade hot sauce, and tables that get cleaned up once a week, whether
they need it or not... And if you don't belch twice and fart once (at
least) while eating it, you're not eating it fast enough!!!

I got to know the owner, pretty well when I was going there
regularly.. But he had a heart attack and died about 2 years ago at
the age of 83, while at the restaurant, serving customers (I had talked
to him that day.. <big frowm> ). So they stood him up in the corner,
and he's still there...

The place is a complete zoo from 2:30 AM till 4:00AM, after the bars
close, people 3 deep at the counter yelling orders,
brawls/shootings/stabbings on a weekly basis... It's great! A former
president even ate there when ha came to rochester, then had plates
shipped to the whitehouse for years afterward..
