From the New Zealand TV Guide ...

More time for The Doctor
------------------------
Doctor Who's companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) might be on
the way out, but the sci-fi drama will be around a while
longer, says showrunner Steven Moffat. "It is definitely
going to last five more years," he told Variety. "And I
think we can go past that. It's television's own legend.
It will just keep going." The latest incarnation of the
Doctor is also here to stay. "Peter Capaldi
is going nowhere," says Steven.

Boo, hiss!! Ditch Crapaldi!!

Yawn. Learn to love him. You just know you're gonna hate his successor more.

That Lucca convention interview does have some wonderful insights
though, such as Moffat's view that Dr Who (the show) may now be immortal:

"Doctor Who is the all-time perfectly evolved television show. It’s a
television predator designed to survive any environment because you can
replace absolutely everybody. Most shows you can’t do that with. For
example, once Benedict Cumberbatch gives up “Sherlock,” what are we
going to do? We are going to stop, that’s what we are going to do. Most
shows have a built-in mortality. But here is a show that sheds us all
like scales; a show that can make you feel everything except
indispensable. It will carry on forever, because you can replace every
part of it."

--
"In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't
important."

Not necessarily. I detested the grinning big-eared clown Quitopher
Etchedinstone, and his replacements have been much better until
Crapaldi was miscast in the role.

He's wrong because some moron will then come along and simply "reboot"
Sherlock, etc.
