Drabble: Why They Changed It I Can't Say

"So where are we?" asked Martha.

"Back on New Earth. I thought you'd like to see it all shiny and
new."

Martha looked around. They were back in Pharmacy Alley, only the
place was bustling. Somehow the gleaming brickwork looked like
"space-bricks" in a way it hadn't before.

"So *when* are we?" she asked.

"Ooh, somewhere in the 4,999,999,700s or so. The planet was only
settled a few decades ago. These are the first people to grow up
here."

"Wow. The first generation of native New New Yorkers."

"Well, not quite. At the moment it's still called New New
Amsterdam..."
