At this very moment, the Good WifeŽ and I are watching an old flick called "My
Friend Irma," which apparently is about an utter ditz named Irma who climbs her
way to the summit of New York society in spite of being a complete moron. The
plot is implausible and the characters one-dimensional, but the dialogue fairly
snaps, which makes the movie worth watching, at least for a while.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that the opening credits for the movie
included the remark: "Introducing Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis." It was mainly
on the basis of that that credit we decided to give the flick a chance.

There have been several classic Dean-and-Jerry bits so far (Jerry appears to be
about 19 years old), but it's obvious that the producers were out to showcase
the vocal talents of this young Italian crooner, who sounds alarmingly like
Bing Crosby. Maybe they were trying to capitalize on Bingo's popularity?

This got me to wondering: Dean Martin died, what, about a year ago? And yet he
was not seen publicly (so far as I know) for something like the last 15 years
of his life. Does anyone know if he was a completely wasted-away souse the
final years of his life? I vaguely recall television appearances of him during
the Rat Pack era, and he was always copping this pose of the genial drunk
holding a rocks glass full of whiskey and a cigarette, in the same hand. Heck,
I've affected the same pose myself, but usually when my other hand was
otherwise engaged.

Anyone know anything about Dino's final days? Was he a complete souse who was
not presentable for general public view?

Dean martin was living in my attic for the past couple of years, hiding from the
Nazis. His autobiography will be available soon, for only $19.95. It's titled,
.... oh, fuck it, if you got this far you know I'm just joshing.

Martin drank very little. Smoking did him in on Christmas Day, 1996.
It is said that the death of his son in an F16 crash in the late '80s
made him a recluse for the last years of his life.

quite odd - I spent a few days in a monkey-shit-green highschool there.
Still - believe it was a phantom.

propaganda piece spewed forth by the civil affarirs troggs whenever they
get a chance. it's mailed to members of the guard weather we want it or
not, and is usually filled with nauseating treacle as to how wonderful
everything is and how happy the troops are....... me and a couple
buddies made it a few years back for clearing an MVA from the I-15 on
