What's a good Irish to start with?

Out of the "three standards" I would rank them, Powers, Jamesons, and then
Bushmills.

The next level up would be Jamesons 12 and Blackbush then maybe Tyrconnel.
From their Redbreast and Connemara.

I would suggest similar. If you want a great smooth Irish, Jameson 12.
For something more full bodied, Redbreast. Connemara is quite peaty
like a Scotch. Great, but not typical Irish.

Let us know what you discover.

I would also say Jameson 12. The standard Powers is very nice, and not
as spicy as it used to be. I don't think this is a good thing, but it
does make it slightly more approachable.

Jameson is getting worse, in my opinion. The whiskeys they use in it
used to be between 4 and 8 yrs old, but now it's between 3 and 7 yrs
old. It's not bad, all the same.
