(Went to bed early, feeling slightly unwell (better in the morning). I had
several dreams, but only this one stands out in my memory this morning.)
A psychedelic dream: there was a conversation going on in the background, a
woman and I talking about whether or not to do something, but I just found
this an annoying distraction and paid it little attention.
Mainly I was watching this canvas hanging on a wall. It would start off
with just a few squiggly lines, then they would grow and multiply until it
formed an image -- a tree, a mountain landscape, etc. When the drawing was
complete the canvas would bloom into color, a big wash of a bright color
splashed across it -- acid green, fuschia, orange. Then the line drawing
process would reverse, the lines "un-drawing" themselves as I watched. It
would reduce down to just a few lines -- but different lines than were there
before -- then the lines would start growing again, into a different
picture.
The dream seemed to go on a long time, and I think for part of it at least,
I was aware I was dreaming. I'd gone to bed with the windows open and it
became pretty cool in the night, and I was considering getting up to get a
blanket, but did not want to be distracted from the image of the painting,
aware I'd lose the ongoing scene of the changing images if I woke and moved
to get a blanket.
Comments and interpretations welcome.
