Just another one to add to the noise here....

We're trying to move our domains. We have attempted to transfer
domains from Verisign to another registrar (BulkRegister.com), but
Verisign has made the process complicated and viscious, and despite
repeated attempts to contact Verisign and get definitive answer, I
continue to get incomplete information and continue to be denied the
transfer.

Our company owns (leases) five domains. I have contacted Verisign to
gain the "AUTH-CODE"s that our new registrar needs to be able to
transfer these domains. We use an organizational role account with no
specific person's name which was the commen and preferred practice in
the past by Network Solutions. Per their instructions, I have faxed
letters confirming we are the legal Administrative Contact for the
domains and requesting the codes. Each time I call, the tech support
person suggest that "probably" we just need a little more information
to make this work. Each time I follow the instructions of the service
representative and again I get a denial response in reply.

I have written replies to the "Tina Payne" who sends the denial
without response (what a name to use for this painful service). I have
asked for escalation to a supervisor and been denied. I am not allowed
to contact the department that actually handles these transfers and
AUTH-CODEs.

This has become quite ridiculous and it's no wonder that people are
leaving this registrar in droves. We just want it fixed and want to
leave this company that provides no real customer service, and it
should be our right to do so. Verisign is holding our domain names
hostage.

Can anyone say class-action? That's what they need.

Apologies if I'm being totally dumb here, I've only transferred a couple of
domains away from netsol but the process was pretty straightforward.

I got the new registrar (easydns) to initiate a transfer and waited for the
verisign confirmation email to arrive (crafty sods, it looks like spam
until you get to the very bottom, credit to easydns for advising me to
watch out for this!).

Once I accepted the confirmation it took a half day or so before I got
confirmation the domains had been transferred to Tucows.

If you have access to the email address specified as the admin contact
can't you do the same, or is something different that I've not understood?

regards
Paul

Paul,

.us and .biz domains have a special authorization code associated with them.
Other registrars normally have a way of requesting this information via a
web link once you have logged into their domain administration software.
Verisign does not. They never provide you with this information when you
first register the domain either. I wanted to transfer my last two domains
with Verisign to another registrar, but they are .us domains. I've sent
numerous e-mail messages to their support address, and they have also
ignored every one of them. After a number of attempts I finally was able to
get through to a live person on the phone. She said that she would refer the
request to their ACT (or at least that's what it sounded like) department.
That was last week. Finally, today I received a form via my administrative
e-mail address. I had to fill out quite a bit of information, sign a waiver
of all responsibility (on their part), and fax the signed form back to them.
I did so earlier today. I'm hoping they will now e-mail my authorization
numbers so that I can transfer the domain as fast as I can!

Gotcha - not in the US so never looked at that CCTLD, seems very OTT
compared to .com/net/org faxes and waivers etc..

Maybe one day someone will have a good word to say about netsol :-)
