Introducing the addCode! Now you can make it perfectly clear to others
reading your posts and email exactly how long you've been reading a.d.d,
what a.d.d events you've attended, how often you visit the park, and
several other variables. If you can think of anything that needs to
be added to the code, please email me the details. The addCode version
0.1 specification follows, and an "addCode generator" web page is in
development (come visit my bobCode generator page to get the general
idea). Let me know what you think!

-----

addCode version 0.1
(based on the bobCode by Giolla deCair, which in turn was originally
based on the geek code, origin unknown)

Assemble your addCode by noting each of the following symbols and the
appropriate variable after each one.

A - AP type
The first section notes the type of Annual Passport you currently have
(if any) and how long you've had one (any type). Possible values are:
x - not an AP holder
R - regular
D - deluxe (add p for parking)
P - premium
If you've had Deluxe with parking for three years, you would have "ADp3".

a - a.d.d status
The next section notes your "status" within a.d.d and how long you've
been reading/posting. These values are fairly subjective.
R - regular poster
O - occasional poster
L - lurker
N - newbie
T - troll
C - DL CM
M - DL management
My "a" section would read "aR2", Dalquist's (for instance) would read
"aRC1", and someone like Harbor1313's might read "aOT1".

E - a.d.d events attended
Note the various a.d.d events you've attended after the letter "E". My
memory for dates really stinks so please help me out with these!
l - Light Magic AP "Premiere" (5/13/97)
L - Light Magic final performance (9/1/97)
C - Carnation final night (1/5/97 I think?)
V - CircleVision closing (anyone?)
m - MSEP "Farewell" AP party (10/xx/96 -- anyone?)
M - MSEP "Encore" final performance (11/xx/96 -- anyone?)
K - Lion King Celebration final performance (6/xx/97 -- anyone?)
2 - AP Party #2 (early in 1996, featured walkthrough Fantasyland
attractions)
1 - AP Party #1 (early in 1995, featured walkthrough Space Mountain
tower and IJA queue)
F - Festival of Fools final performance (2/1/98)
My "E" section would read "ElLK1", although I was not aware of a.d.d when
I attended the first AP party in 1995.

D - Distance from the park in miles.
Example: "D45"

F - Frequency of DL visits
w - 1x week
W - more than 1x week (add numbers for how often)
m - 1x month
M - more than 1x month but less than 1x week (add numbers)
y - 1x year
Y - more than 1x year but less than 1x month (add numbers)
l - less than 1x year
Example: Scott Leonard :) would probably have something like "FW3", Matt
Phipps' might be "Fy".

n - net access
Method(s) of accessing a.d.d
L - direct connection via LAN
c - cable modem
I - local dialup ISP
A - AOL
w - webTv
C - compuserve
d - DejaNews
e - email only, no usenet access
Example: Mine would be "nLId", Adrienne's (either one) would probably be
"nA", Cindy Yan's would be "ne".

k - length of killfile
Example: "k8"

W - number of Disneyland-related web pages created
Example: "W4"

M - megabytes of web space devoted to Disneyland-related pages
Example: "M35"

-----

Adding all of these up creates the addCode. My addCode, for example,
would be:

ADp6 aR2 ElLK1 D45 FW nLId k8 W4 M35

Oh, I feel honored now! Thanks Andrew! Thane of a.d.d., chosen as an
example from all the other CM's avaibable here. Wow. I'm on a roll. :~)

Some effort was definitely put into that. Sounds pretty cool. Maybe I'll
make up a web page just to use it!

So,

The caste system has finally come to a.d.d. in a written form.

Of course now Janet Reno will think that we are using code to plot a
government overthrow. This could be fun. We could have these put on name
badges. Problem: The badges would be 3 feet long.

I'm going to go through and figure out my code.

What if there was a lag time in your AP? for example I had an AP in the 80's
for about 3 years (the system was different then but it was equavilent to a
premium AP)

Just curious

This is obviously (or apparently not so obviously) meant in fun. It is
not intended to divide people into "castes" or "cliques" or anything of
the sort. It is only meant to let people make a statement of "this is
who I am on a.d.d". Please don't read hostile intent where I meant none.

With tongue planted firmly in cheek, I offer my additions to the code:

Number of times you've posted (to be determined by a DejaNews search of every
e-mail address and screen name you've used). This one must be updated with
each post.

How much you are liked by others in th group. I won't attempt to do mine, but
a sample one might look like this:

Al7,Alf.05,Liver8,nb7.5,SPR7,PJdrf6,HB-17 and so on

where Al is AL Lutz, Alf is the fake Al Lutz, Liver is Mr, of that name, SPR is
Sean Rouse, HB is Hambone, etc.

Lt.,

I hope everyone understood that. (Then again, there's always one.) Think about it,
social security number, drivers license number, phone number, ID numbers, passwords,
hack codes, (I really didn't say that) etc., etc. One more number to decipher and
remember and I'll go nuts. The mind is the second thing to go.

The point I was trying to make is this: We have enough dissention among the
ranks on A.D.D.and I think that this can further it between the "haves" (APs),
"have-nots" (non-AP), and doers (CMs). I'm not humorless I just think there
is a better way to do this.

Umm. Good question. I think the best way would be to use total years,
not necessarily consecutive years. So if you had one for three years in
the 80's, and then (for instance) four years in the 90's, you would use
ADp7.

I think what is needed now is a site that you can cut and paste addCode
to and it decodes it into human readable form. Then you could keep a
browser window open to decode a posters code as you're reading from the
ng (like I do with the 'faces of add' site to see the image of the
poster).

Also, a site with a form that could be filled out that would generate
addCode would be cool too.

I defined it as "sites" not "pages". So for instance I have Backstage,
McDonald's, Fantasmic, and a.d.d at Aladdin for a total of 4.

As intended, should only be "online" web space.

Well, it makes a good addition to a .sig, or (as Sue suggested) a name
badge.

I like that, "Vizier of the addCode". How do I go about getting an
FDC/TDC title?

> A.D.D Code: A(Rp1)P1 aR3 EC(Organizer)VKIL(F!) D55 FM2-4 nI(c soon) k0
> W1(gamma) M1

This translates to:

AP type: (formerly Regular/parking (1 year)) Premium 1 year
a.d.d status: Regular poster, 3 years
a.d.d events: Carnation final night, CircleVision closing, LKC
final, "I" (I don't know what the "I" stands for, do you possibly mean
"l" for the Light Magic AP "Premiere"?), Light Magic final performance,
and FoF final performance (though it hasn't happened yet).
Distance from DL: 55
Frequency of visits:2-4 times/month
net access: local dialup ISP, cable modem soon
killfile length: none
DL web pages: 1
DL web space in MB: 1

Looks good to me, though I'll have to come up with a better way of doing
time (months rather than years?) and "also" notations.

On that topic: I don't have very much in my killfile except for the
various webTv trolls and the recurring boycott and Ellen Degeneres
threads.

Someone please post the add code again. I lost my copy and screwed my code
up big time.

Thanks,

I just went back again in Dec, so the answer to that question would probably be
not any time soon.

The answer to that's also *probably* not any time soon, unfortunately (it would
be nice to be wrong about that).

Let's see....

AP...um, three weeks....I guess that's one....oh, hey! I had one in 92, also,
so that adds up to....oh, Pressler, I'll just put one (sorry for the language)
AP1

next:
aR1
That was easy. I'd add an S for Smarta....er, aleck, if it was in the code.
Just a suggestion.

E0.......no events attended, is that right?

D50ish

FM3 Three times per month, so far....

nA

no killfiles on AOL, so k0 or kA4 (No killfile cause i'm on AOL but if I
could I'd have 4 people there)

W2 (so far)

MA (I'm on AOL, and hence have no clue)
Ma (all of them)

so, you can adress me as the Fabulous Disney Babe (this sounds best while
grovelling) or as:
AP1 aR1 E0 D50 FM3 nA kA4 W2 Ma

I think I'll stick with:

Fab
