CSS media query oddity

In .css stylesheets from Yahoo!, Forbes, and various other places, I'm
seeing CSS media query expressions such as

"@media \0screen { ..." and
"@media screen\0 { ...".

In all cases, that \0 is two characters, '\' and '0' (i.e., "\\0" if
written as a C language string).

Is that just an error, or is there actually some purpose behind it?
Thanks,
