A little history

Having moved to North Carolina 10 years ago from Massachusetts,
the racism I've experienced from black folk ( black against white )
is quite new to me. But it is real, and it is blatant. I see it all
around me on a daily basis.

Up north where I'm from it wasn't quite like that. In fact I grew
up in an all white neighborhood. But there was racism. White against
white. I grew up in a Swedish neighborhood. And although we were not
Swedish my father did purchase a home right in the middle of it. But
nobody would rent to you if your name didn't end in "son", "quist" or
"strom". But then the upper half of our hood was all Irish and the
same was true. If your name didn't begin with O'something they just
didn't care for you or rent to you.

It appeared that everyone had their place and as long as your dwelled
amongst your own everything was hunkydory. And that included the other
colors - black, red, yellow etc. Everybody had their district. Other
races wouldn't bother you - they just wouldn't have you.

History done

All that said, I would like to know something about discrimination in
the workplace. I work part time for a local retail outlet store. I have
been employed there for the past 5+ years. And although there have always
been more black than white employees, a black woman had been promoted
to a managerial position and the past 15 or so new hires have all been black.
She has not hired any white people. In fact, over time I ( and other white
employees ) have seen certain black employees ( including said manager ) gang-bang
white employees to drive them out of employment one way or the other. These
black employees constantly observing that white person for anything they can
get on them and reporting on them. And it is always the same individuals doing
the gang banging. If you happen to cross any one of them - bang! - the BS starts
on that person. If they want a black person to fill your role - gang-bang!
You're out.

The company is supposed to be an "equal opportunity employer" according to their
web site. But that simply is not true. It is believed that said black manager
pulls in employees from her church or from parents she knows. Jobs are never
posted in the newspapers. I do see white people applying for jobs - they just
never get hired. And the people that said manager does hire usually don't last
long. They either quit, or get fired. But still no white people get hired. This
is not to imply that they wouldn't quit or get fired - they just don't get a
chance either way.

I have been told that this issue has been brought to upper management already
but nothing ever comes of it. I would like to know how one goes about raising
an issue of this type outside of the company if indeed a law is being broken.
And where/how would one go about initiating some sort of action.

Any and all feed back welcome,

I've since taken this matter to corperates attention by way of
human resources department. An investigation ensued over
a 6 month period. The main actor in the above mentioned has
been culled from the flock. No longer employed with our store.
The discriminate hiring has ceased.

It's hard to sell "reverse discrimination" to people of the south.
In general they reject the idea. Don't want to talk about it. Taboo..
Black or white. But especially the blacks. Only white people
discriminate.
