Examples:
Take Newt Gingrich, the Republican politician. Very smart guy, has great
ideas, and actually made some changes in our goverment for the
better--basically led the Republican Revolution. TIME Magazine's Man of
the Year in 1996. (In that article, it was mentioned that Newt has an IQ
of 123.)
In that same issue of TIME, there was an article about Timothy MacVeigh.
Oklahoma city bomber, convicted killer of 168 (?) people, including
children. ( In that article, it was mentioned that McVeigh has an IQ of
125.)
A few articles later, in TIME, up pops the Unabomber. Now I don't know
his IQ score, but it's gotta be well above 120 (he was a professor of
mathematics at the best public university in the world.) This same guy
murdered at least 2 innocent people, and maimed several others.
See? As I have just demonstrated, it would be extremely foolish to
judge others solely on IQ scores. One can only earn honourable judgement
through respectable accomplishments and hard-earned acheivements (as
Newt has) .

Because no matter how much they may protest otherwise, they instinctively
know in their hearts that human compassion is positively correlated with IQ.

Considering the fact that bragging about IQ is considered by most to be
rather gauche, the most obsessed with IQ seem to be those that are obsessed
with telling the world how "meaningless" it is, and tend to make one suspect
they have a vested interest in such a claim.

test, ok?

The message went to several other newsgroups. The reason I posted it is
because several supremacists (i.e. Ian McKinney, Shannon Perley,
lambert@morgan, etc....) kept on bringing up facts about how since
whites have higher IQ scores than blacks, then they must be superior,
and similar claims. That is why I posted it.

That's probably because that score is the only thing they have, don't you
think?

This shows at least some degree of basic cleverness. Knowing
one's own limits is a virtue some people are sorely lacking.

To make a wild guess, I came across it in one which is a recreational
newsgroup devoted to an organization which has IQ scores as its sole criteria
for membership.
As to why the others, don't know. Care only slightly more than that.

The opinions expressed above are my own. The facts simply
are and belong to none.
I completely agree with the fact that IQ scores should not be used as a
ranking tool or anything like this and that they do obviously not show
anything about most of someone's qualities. However, it should not be
forgotten that the IQ score is a very reliable measure that correlates
strongly with educational and perofessional success.

The best example I have in mind is the 100 score achieved by president John
F Kennedy.
