Hey everyone, good morning, coffee's on.

Does anyone know of a resource for "clip art" style (or otherwise)
picture frames to use to "frame" .....

Scratch that.

Ah, this is hard to describe, but I want to make some of my images look
like they're framed with "classical", frames, e.g. roccocco (sp?), lots
of detail, gold leaf.... I have found a *few* good straight-on images
which I can cut apart and edit to fit my images... but I'm hoping to
find a vaster ;) resource for this stuff.

Obviously, modern frames are really easy to fake so I don't need any
info on those.

Thanks!

As someone who works with clip art constantly, I'd advise against
that. It always looks like clip art. If it were me, I'd dig through
all my art magazines, scan in the frames I like and touch them up in
PS (especially to adjust the height and width).

Though if someone does have a good clip art resource wherin the images
don't look like cheesy clip art, I'd sure be interested.

PaintShop Pro has a framing feature built in. You can download the demo
(good for 60 days) at:
http://www.jasc.com

It comes with a couple dozen or so frames. I don't remember off hand
what the default frames look like, I've added to my collection since
install. Many users have created more downloadable frames and made them
freely available, you can find my list here:
http://www.psplinks.com/content/Frames_Downloads.html
Usually, they're provided in a .zip and will have a .pfr extension, you
just unzip to your Paint Shop Pro7\Frames directory. You may have to
close and then re-open the program when you add new ones to rebuild the
cache file, it's been awhile since I've added new ones.

If you don't want to go to the trouble of downloading/installing, most
of the user pages with frames give a preview image of each frame, you
could save those and then copy/paste your image into it. Depends on the
size of your images, if they're large it's not going to work.

Or...you could do a search to find places that sell molding. Download
those images and create your own virtual frames by making a section of
the molding a seamless tile and then using as a flood fill. Do the
horizontal edges on one layer and the vertical on another to make it
easier to "cut" the miters.

Or...if you've got some framed work at home that would suffice, take it
off the wall and put it into a flatbed scanner. You could also ask
friends if they have anything framed that you could borrow for the day
to scan. I'd do the same as above, make a seamless tile and use as a
flood fill.
