Hi Folks,

I'm not a designer - I'm not even sure this is a design question, so forgive
me if I should have posted this somewhere else.

I am wondering if there is a commercial use for "fractal art". I have been
experimenting with a program I wrote which produces a great variety of very
finely detailed, abstract, beautiful color designs. The images are very
striking. I know this is not a new idea, but I haven't seen these designs
anywhere except on the internet. Before you blow this off as non-art,
consider that although computer-generated, the images are the result of many
choices and manipulations by the creator. Besides, they really are very
pretty.

If there is a commercial potential, do I just try to sell the images
directly (to whom?), or would it make more sense to apply the images to a
product? (i.e., a line of greeting cards, etc.) Any suggestions would be
very much appreciated.

Allen

First I do consider it an "art" form. You should go to renderosity.com and see
all the fractals that others have created.

Next, I think that the 2 suggestions that you gave above are good examples of
how to sell it commercially.

I'm just learning now about fractals and while I don't have anything commercial
in mind (yet) I'm still experimenting.
