I have been lurking in this NG for some time now and was wondering if I
could get some suggestions...I am 26 and have an undergrad in
Communications. After working in an ad agency in the PR dept (wasn't my cup
of tea so now I work in a small consulting firm) I became an Art Dept
groupie and fell in love with graphic design and multimedia. I now have gone
as far as I can in the last 4 years with teaching myself various programs
and would like to go back to school. I am looking at the Maine College of
Art but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for schools on the
East Coast - mainly the New England region. I am an artist by nature and am
now ready to fully explore the possibilities.

Rhode Island institute of Design used to be pretty big. There's the
School of Visual Arts in NY.

Or,you can just immerse yourself in good design (web sites, design
books and mags) for a while, build a good portfolio and try that
route.

as well as technical assistance in learning the full capabilities of certain
software. I have a massive collection books, mags and the like (and love
learning all I can) but I would now like to get serious.
