I think you will find this of interest. Our graphics convention, SIGGRAPH,
will be coming to San Diego for the first time this July. The Art Gallery
director for SIGGRAPH (see it at
http://www.siggraph.org/s2003/conference/art/ ), Michael Wright, inspired us
to come up with a counterpart in the local community. And we did.
I don't know if other communities have responded in such a strong way to
having a cluster of digital art shows, forums, free trainings and other
events, but we enjoy having the opportunity.
Perhaps you might share the news on your side of the Atlantic. See my
graphic at the bottom for the Iron Artist Competition, which is a project of
mine.
