Why does it seem that the slaughter of lives has become
a news media event, with CNN, CBS, ABC, etc. all shouting
"Me first!" in reporting their news. I've seen worse
advertising campaigns for Coke and Pepsi than for that
"Late-breaking LIVE news coverage of (choose one of the
following neat-o slick-sounding catchy phrases:)
1) War in the Gulf
2) Operation Desert Storm
3) Showdown in the Gulf
4) Crisis in the Gulf
like so many different names for the same bland break-
fast of corn flakes...they're straining to sound exciting,
trying to sound more exciting than their equally frantic
competitor stations.

You've missed the part I most, err, enjoyed (??). They're all sitting
there trying to get something out of Cheney (sp?). Questions like:

"If you tried to take out Hussein's communications capabilities,
will you leave enough so that he can tell us if he wants to give up?"

And others which sounded something like:

"Which buildings in particular did you try to hit, giving exact
addresses and phone numbers, if possible."

Sigh.

I tend to agree with the news coverage, ABC and especially
CNN seem to have a field day with this... hey who wants the ratings more
war now........

Pray for peace and Pray for all the civilians that will die in all this.

Whats more its too bad that it seems no one learns from previous wars..

Concerning the catchy phrases used to headline Desert Storm among
the various competing networks.

Personally, I "like" the graphics. Within 8hrs of conflict, ABC News
must have changed the shape of their lettering for "Operation Desert
Storm" at least three times.

What kinda frightens me is that it must have been *someone's* job
out there to do it.

"So Ted, do you like the letters to be silver glossy and fill up
1/2 the screen ... or would you like more space to be left for
the map..."

sigh...

Not quite. Many people *do* learn from previous wars. The problem is, not
*everyone* does. That's why we keep having them.

Who, for a second, in 1991, thought that I would be viewing this thread on my mobile phone. Mental.
