Hi,
I've got a private téléphone line (about 1/2 mile long) and would like
to use it for data communications also. Does anybody know any symetric
DSL modems that could work ? Do 2 ADSL modem work facing each other (I
can't afford a DSLAM) ?
Thank you very much in advance.

I don't know what you can afford, but on this side of the pond we use
a product from Netsys Direct. I can get it to your side with the
following link http://netsys-direct.co.uk/ you tell me if the price is
right.

I had very good results with Flowpoint 2200 SDSL modems running back to back
over a dry copper pair (Flowpoint became Efficient Speedstream and then
Siemens); they have been available very cheap on eBay. Efficient rebranded
the various 2200s as the 5851 and the 7451 series; a pdf file is available
mapping the model numbers. Search for any of these on auction or sale sites.

Thank you very much : 2 VDSL modem with integrated POTS splitter, one
master and one slave, low price : this is exactly what I was looking
for !
