Thank you for contacting Internet Technical Support.

You could save the money but the biggest problem is whether or not you
can program your own modem to work with the frontier service. Our
modems have been "flashed" or "programmed" to work specifically with
the frontier service and even the same brand purchased from the
factory will not be programmed for frontier service. Our technicians
do not assist or support setting up equipment that has not been
received through frontier. We also would not warranty the item
whereas we own and replace ours when necessary.

I hope that helps !

Sincerely,

Linda

Question:
Frontier charges $3.99 a month to have a high speed modem. Can I
save that fee if I buy and use my own modem w/o being charged that
monthly rental fee?
