We have a NEC Aspire PBX. I do not know a lot about PBX's, but our
vendor has locked us out of our own system (password protected) to
protect us from ourselves. If we own the system...seems it's ours to
break if we want to have the admin password...a simple backup can
restore the system anyway, so protecting us from ourselves seems
bogus.
In addition, there are many things that seem like problems that a
basic PBX should be able to do. One serious problem is that if a
phone (station) is not plugged in, the number assigned to that phone
simply does not work. There is no capability of voice mail,
forwarding or anything.
We had hoped that the NEC name meant something positive, but we're
finding that even common features and options require the NEC
installer to change.
I could probably go on for pages concerning this PBX, but I'm just
curious what others out there think?
Is this the norm for PBX systems?
Thanks in advance!
They are not "protecting you from yourselves". They are protecting
thier income stream from you.

See above.
