I went to watch Dish a couple of days ago and turned it on to find that I
have no signal. Before I go any further I try to familiarize everyone of the
setup down to the problem. I am leaning towards a bad LNBF but not sure and
don't really want to call one of their techs out to find the problem.

The SETUP:

I have a Dish 500 with a DishPro Plus Twin LNBF and feeds 2 receivers,
receiver #1 is a DP322 (this is the problem) and receiver #2 is a DP311. The
feed for receiver #1 comes off the dish and into the house and into the
DishPro Plus seperator then into the DP322. Receiver #2 the feed comes off
the dish and into the house into the DP311.

The PROBLEM:

My DP322 and cannot establish a signal at all, on the point dish screen I
can't get a signal period. It says 'Not Locked - Name Not Acquired'. I have
tried repositioning the Dish, checked all the cables connections, even took
out the smart card and waited and re inserted and still no change.

MY DP311 in the other room is fine, although when you first turn it on, it
goes to the 'Acquiring Satellite Signal' screen but then it quickly jumps to
the channel that it was on the last time it was on. I went into the point
dish screen and looked at the signal strengths on transponder '11' on dish
'110' and '119' and I can't seem to get a signal on '119' higher than about
68%. On '110' it is 78%.

Back to my DP322, when it is first turned on it goes right to the 'Acquiring
Satellite Signal' and tries different satellites and transponders (Progress
0 to 5) it cycles through but it always stays on 0.

I have installed about 6 systems in the last 12 years and this is the first
time I can't figure out my problem. I am leaning towards that DishPro Plus
Twin LNBF is going bad, problem is I don't have an extra one to try and
switch out. All I have are the old Legacy single and dual LNBFs.

Very frustrated on this late Saturday morning, any input would be greatly
appreciated, other than eBay what are some online distributors that sell
LNBFs, switches and the like?

Thanks,
Carl

These are very good signals, the problem is not positioning.

Have you tried swapping the receivers? Does the problem stay with the
line, or the 322? If it stays with the line, do you have a spare you
can swap? Moisture may have gotten under what appears to be a good
connection.

Probably, given that both receivers are having symptoms.

Good idea. To try with the LNBFs you already have, you would also
need a legacy switch and to be able to run both of the lines (or a new
additional line) to the 322.

dishdepot.com, sadoun.com, dishstore.net for starters.

I've been very busy and just now have tried to diagnose my problem further.
Another person suggest I run the switch test on both receivers which I
thought I had already performed but I guess I hadn't at the time of the
original post. Anyway I did a switch test on both receivers and I
encountered the following:
I ran a switch test on both receivers (322 and 311) and the 322 has problems
as I get the following error:

Warning #836

The check switch test has found fewer satellites than previously detected.
Selecting 'Save' will result in a loss of channels. Press 'Cancel' to keep
the original settings and return to the previous menu. Only select 'Save' if
you are sure that this new setting is correct for the installation you.

The 311 tested fine, so is the Dish Pro Plus separator bad or the Dish Pro
Plus Twin LNBF? Or??
