Tips, tricks, and work-arounds like these are already well
known to veteran Hopper users, but newcomers like me might
benefit from this. Besides, this newsgroup used to be a
bit more active. Increasing political censorship on social
media sites should revive interest in unmoderated Usenet
newsgroups, as posted articles and replies are far more
difficult for the government and their agencies to censor.

* Manually activate the built-in screensaver by pressing
the TV or AUX device buttons on the side of the remote.
This dims the background picture behind the notification
window which gradually bounces off the screen's edges.
Reacquiring a lost signal defaults to a similar window.

* The "Favorite Channel Settings" menu makes it easy to
add only those available channels that you want to see
while navigating through the Program Guide. By skipping
unwanted channels (as in my case, Spanish-language and
"infomercial" channels, SD where HD exists, extraneous
sports channels, and others of little or no interest),
that makes it a lot more efficient when searching for
movies, series, specials, and other pertinent content.
