I thought it fair to post this positive information. The company has
changed it's billing procedures. Here is an email I just received from
them:
_____________________
Hello Frank

I'm writing because you placed an order with us on Mar 21 2000 that was
backordered and later cancelled. Because our billing system at that
time charged your credit card at the time the order was placed, your
card had to be manually credited.

We received lots of feedback about this limitation in our system and
have taken major steps to improve it.

I wanted to personally let you know that we have recently completed an
upgrade that will bill your credit card only after your product ships
rather than when you place the order. We hope that this improvement
(and many others that we've made since you've been to the site) will
make shopping with us easier than ever.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or
concerns.

Give us another try and get $10.00 off of any purchase over $100.
Follow this link: http:\\xxxxxxxx
Or use offercode: BWS1 at the checkout to receive the discount (offer
expires 5/1/00)

Also, they seem to have fixed the "number in-stock" information.

I gave them another shot and ordered the Maxtor 40G. It's not in stock
but I can't find it at this price anywhere else. (<$250 incl. shipping)

I hope you placed your order through www.brandsforless.com? If you link
to C4sure through them, you get a $10 rebate (on a $50+ order) and
shipping costs rebated too.

Also www.onvia.com has a Maxtor 5400 RPM 40GB hard drive for $258 *in
stock* - use coupon code 1571100 to get $25 off that price:

Great tip! Thanks -- I ordered it and total was $233. Lowest I've
found so far for this particular hard drive. Will let you know how it
goes if anyone is interested.

P.S. You also get a free one year sub to Entrepreneur magazine if
you're interested. I signed up.

Glad I could help. I still can't bring myself to pull the trigger on
this deal and PTV. I've got to keep trying to convince myself that TV is
worth $55 bux a month (AT150 + PTV + extra receiver fee). Since summer's
almost here (and I hardly watch TV at all then), it's probably going to
take me until fall to talk myself (not to mention my wife) into it.
;^)

Same here. Been meaning to order 1 for a while, this tip was the "final
motivation".

Same here. I wonder if OnVia will be puzzled by the sudden binge in orders
for this particular drive, all using the same coupon code! <g> And I wonder
how long their stock will last...

BTW, where do "coupon codes" come from? Do you have to sign up for Onia spam
to get them?
