About once a week, my 722 does not turn on when I press the Select
button on my remote. I usually get up and press the reset button on
the unit. (Pressing the power button on the unit does not work.)

On three occasions, I have switched to my DVD player and watched
programs on a USB drive instead of pushing the reset button on the
unit. When I went back to the 722, it did turn on when I pressed
the Select button on my remote.

Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do about it?
Thank you in advance for all replies.

When I am in the kitchen, I often kick one of my cat's balls.
After I kick it, he will sometimes play with it for a few
seconds to several minutes. His favorite are the ones that
rattle. He'll play with any ball that makes noise.

Are you sure you have selected the 722 on your remote? Instead of simply
pushing the "Select" button, try pushing the "SAT" button.

Yes, I am sure. I never use that remote for anything else. When I
press the "Select" button, the "SAT" button lights up. Also after I
push the reset button on the receiver, the "Select" button works
normally.

When a cat sits in a human's lap both the human and the cat are usually
happy. The human is happy because he thinks the cat is sitting on him/her
because it loves her/him. The cat is happy because it thinks that by sitting
on the human it is dominant over the human.

I have had the same problem at least 12 more times. Every time I
have checked and the remote is set for the Dish receiver. After I
reset the main unit by pressing the reset button on the main unit,
the remote control works normally. I do not change any settings on
the remote control. Changing settings on the remote control does
not accomplish anything.

I have started checking at what time of day this problem occurs.
Since I started checking, it has happened between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00
a.m. every time. This has been at least 11 times. I think it
happens EVERY time the Dish receiver shuts itself off at 3:00 a.m.
and I try to turn it back on before 4:00 a.m.

Is this a known problem with the 722? Thank you in advance for any
help.

What time did you config it to check for nightly updates??
("menu"->"8" preferences->"4" updates)

Besides checking for an update, your 722 run's a a file system integrity check (fsck) on
the harddisks which takes some time, 5 to 30 minutes before rebooting and downloading a
fresh copy of the programming schedule(10 minutes).

I had this problem a few days back and changed it from dual user mode to
single user mode to solve the problem. Might have been due to me using
sling away from home changing something.
