Hey Dave V, how's it going? A belated Happy New Year to you.

I haven't been around for a while because I've been doing a major
revamp on the house When you're retired there's no excuse for not doing
it yourself (which I would have done anyway!).

I've also been spending a lot of time researching my family tree,
blitzing it rather than making it a lifetimes work. I've now got all
the branches back to 1750, which I think is far enough. There were one
or two surprises and also a couple of family myths demolished.I'm going
to do Lynda's next but I need a break from it first.

Is it my imagination or is there a lot more verbal diarrhoea getting on
to this group nowadays?

Lynda wants to know how the llamas are doing?

Cheers

All is going well here. The llamas are doing fine. I found a nice
stud for my one female. She'll get to visit him in a couple of
months..... then a year later I'll have a baby llama (called a cria).

I've just been working on the ranch.. .cutting brush, burning big
piles of branches and brush. I'm trying to clear a lot of trees
and brush so I have more grazing for the llamas. It's funny
watching the llamas. I'm out there with chainsaws and other very
noisy tools. They just hang around and wait for me to cut
something they can eat.

As I'm clearing I'm finding some nice rocks and piling them so I
can use them in my stone wall later. I'm using the smaller rocks
to make a Neolithic maze kind of like the one at Glastonbury Tor.
No special reason, just something to do with the rocks.

My aunt traced our tree. One side goes back to Utrecht where the
family had a large farm, the house had 12 rafters (they were
taxed by the rafter). It got destroyed by a war between two
bishops, then rebuilt even bigger. One of my relatives was
supposedly a signatory of the Union of Utrecht. The other side
comes from Clan Cian in Ireland, County Cork. It is said that
both families had roots going back to the Norse "traders".

It's been quiet on this newsgroup. I think we are the only ones
that use it.

I wonder what happened to Seren? I tried to track him down a few months
ago and there was no trace of him anywhere. I wanted to ask him for
some advice because he's a film editor and that's what my eldest
grandaughter intends to go into. She's already been working in the crew
on the latest Harry Potter film for work experience and she'll be going
to film school next autumn.

Cheers

I don't know what happened to him. I can't help you with the
movie stuff, I stick with still pictures. I do know that working
on a Harry Potter film should look great on a job resume.

It's been warm here today. It made it to the 40s. It's supposed
to get all the way up to 33 F tomorrow. I have to get up early
and take the ice chunk out of the llamas water. They're fine
with a few inches of wool. They don't even notice it.
