Actually, I'd like to see Anne Parlaund (sp?), the chick from La Femme
Nikita (the movie), as Molly. Or, hee hee, Jaime Lee Curtis. :)

Christian Slater....I've never thought of that before but now that you
mention it if he changes his voice I bet he can pull it off.

Nix to Christian Slater. His mom will get him other jobs any way. How about
Christian Bale. for Case

Armitage: Still thinking on that.
3Jane: The chick from "Bound"
Molly: Fairuza Balk

Case: Rufus Sewell (cleaned up -- i will take Christian Slater with a
theatre coach as defined as a granite statue, twice as tough, and a devout
Hemmingway reader. i will also accept Keanu if his life were threatened if
the movie bombed because of him. he has an edge that few can duplicate --
but his acting is pathetic)
Armitage: Ed Harris (no changing this one) (well i lied. Christopher Walken
if they can un-waif him)
3Jane: Sigourney Weaver (made to look younger)
Molly: i give up, girl from the Matrix with better acting coaches?
Riviera: Jodie Miller (or someone quite crazy-looking)
Finn: Bob Hoskins (DeVito is getting too soft for it)
Dixie: Steve Buscemi (his lonely voice overlaid with electronics. plus i
think he is an excellent actor)
AIs: any monotonic voice -- preferrably much like HAL 9000
Panther Moderns: Hackers kids and backdrop. or just cruise the rave scene.

You're probably thinking of the American remake, "Point of No
Return," which actually had Bridget Fonda (not Jennifer Jason
Leigh) playing the Nikita character. The original French film,
"La Femme Nikita," had Anne Parillaud (sp?) playing the title character.

after vgrep'ing the idiot box tonight (there was a movie on), i came up
with another suggestion for Molly - The redhaired grrly in the movie
Executive Target. Her character is called Lacey and is a toughnut but
slick 'razor grrl', the actress is Angie Everhart. Very cool and calculating.

Good call! She would be great for that role.
The last time I read it, I thought of Jonny Lee Miller as Riviera for

i agree with you on both accounts. i listed Jodie Miller as Riviera for that
reason. Case as Robert Downy Jr. is interesting. if we keep him on drugs, he
might prove to be a wonderful choice for the part. but first, more
Hemmingway for him.

Ideal suggestion. Also, why not some actors that are popular, but not
common. here are my suggestions:
Case: Stephen Dorff (Blade)
Molly: Anne Parlund (La Femme Nikita), Nastasia Kinski (termnal
Velocity), or Gena Davis (The Long Kiss Goodnight)
The Finn: Bruce Spence (The Road Warrior), or Steve Buscemi (Resevoir
Dogs, Con Air)
Ratz: Christopher Lloyd (Taxi, Back to the future) or John DeLancy
(Star Trek: TNG as Q)
Tesser: Kate Mugrew (Star Trek: Voyager)
Ashpool: Dennis Hopper (True Romance, Apocalypse Now)
Armitage: Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner)
3Jane: Melissa Joan Heart (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch)
Deane: David Bowie (think about it, looks young and old...)
Linda: Lacey Chabert (Lost in Space, Party of Five)
The Voice Of The Lapis Bust: (Uma thurman)
Riviara: Julian Sands (Warlock, Witchhunt)
Maelcum: Busta Rhymes
Hideo: Chow Yun Fat (Replacement Killers)

which sucks. Keanu is such a pussyboy, even after the matrix. looks like a
starving dog to me.
neuromancer would work best with an actor totally unknown, not even a B-list
type person. if i see people too well known in a movie i think "what's ____
gonna do next?" instead of getting into the movie, i can't even call the
actor by the character name.
prime example: the thin red line. john travolta cameo. it totally threw
me off the course of the movie, because here was that fat bastard travolta
giving orders in a uniform. it was totally unbelievable.
pissed me off. (obviously)

i would agree with you if half the people you suggested weren't too old.
now, set this back sometime in 1987 or so, then you'd have a blockbuster of
a movie. but now? i don't think so -- we would have to rename it
Gerontomancer.
we need some new blood, but blood that has proven itself none-the-less.

no no no! Finn is a short stocky fellow. not a wild-eyed crazy looking
fellow. i like Buschemi as much as the next guy, but not as the Finn!

Ok, i think I've got who I"d be happy with for the cast:
Christian Slater as Case
Molly: Sharon Stone with short black hair..Who ever plays Molly Has to have
short black hair damnit!
The Finn: Steve Buscimi
Armitage: Richard Grier
Lisa: Fairuza Bulk
3Jane: Angalina Jolie
those are the ones that matter to me
oh voices for the Ai's
Wintermute :Gillian Anderson"
Neuromancer: Leonard Nemoy
I'd be happy if just one of these people were in it,
Armitage.....6

With that cast, not only would I boycott it, but I'd have to start
bombing theaters that played the damn thing.

no! Finn cannot be Steve because he is supposed to be a short stocky fellow.
you are making the same mistakes that film makers do by hiring people like
Keanu to play parts they don't truly fit!. What are you thinking? stop
riding on the coattails of popular media. Grier is too old and not even
close to dramatic enough to play Armitage. he also would have to play a
slightly crazed character. he couldn't pull it off, period. Sharon Stone?
too old. you would have to hire some expensive stunt double to play her on
the parts that mattered. waste of space and not even a good name to have on
a movie any more. Anderson as an AI? i think not. she isn't ambient enough.
besides, it is a male voice. Bob Hoskins as Finn. nothing more is
acceptable. I like Steve Buscemi. but he could only be Dixie -- not the Finn
or any other of the main characters. Please, don't make the mistakes that
the movie makers will inevitably make. Think before you assign parts.

I agree with the short black hair thing, but Sharon Stone's past it.

Naahh. I always imagened Wintermute as having a small child's voice.

That's just odd :).

I think I know of some one who could play Molly. Rya Kihlstedt who was most
recently seen in the remake of Brave New World as Lenina Crowne and was also
the female burglar in Home Alone 3. She's lithe, has a great voice and looks
good with short dark hair

After wondering through the Best Buy video section and finding "The Family
Survival Guide for the Y2K" Hosted by Leonard Nemoy, I would just laugh if that
happened.

How could you _not_ know LaVar Burton was in ST:TNG? He was a main
character(after first season anyway)!

Case couldn't be Stephen dorff... he's not pathetic enough.

Ok... Armitage = Christopher Walken. (it just has to be)
The finn.. no one is quite nasty enough... the leprechaun from..
Leprechaun??

Case = All major actors are too.. polished. Doesn't work for the pathetic
cse character. Read the section where riviera makes the holo caricatures of
case, molly, and armitage)
Molly... who knows?

I'd like to see him do the Finn. Case should be a bit more... I
dunno. I always saw Case as thin, pale, blond, limp, short hair.
That sort of thing. Steve Buscemi looks a bit too... Thick, I guess.
I really think none of the current big-name actors looks right. I'd
like to see a "nobody" get the part.
