Mambo insinuated his way into the bar, his form unfolding not from the
shadows but from the space between shadow and light.
He stretched his back with a loud pop. "Bugger, I should have gone
with my first instinct. I knew that was going to be worthless as a
shortcut."
Mambo walked over to the bar and signaled Ratz for his usual.
"Oh, hey MD, it's been too long. How's life treating you?"
Charleson Mambo
"Oh, you know. Like, with stuff." The MD replied nonchalantly, as if
Mambo's sudden appearance from between the spam layers was not a meat
byproduct based miracle. He bowed his head and spoke as if offering
the most sage of advice. "Beware persons of Eastern European descent.
In particular, do not drink in their company. It will only lead to
physical discomfort." Mambo nodded assent.
"Been drinking have we?" he offered.
"Probably. Be rude not to. But.. " A cigarette was waved theatrically,
to ensure continuance of a theme, ".. yes. I have. I should address
your question, I suppose."
"That would be - " Charleson paused for the right word, " - polite, I
suppose." The MD nodded.
"It would. Hmm, the basics. Have acquired a Permanent Secretary of
Asian origin, so a good chalk on the CP board for that." the MD
pointed at a dartboard which Ratz must have installed to pass the
time. "At least a double sixteen for that I think. However I have
moved continents, to one of the least Cyberpunk cities of the world,
Sydney. I mean, what's gritty and futuristic about hitting the beach
and fishing?" The MD looked questioningly at Charleson, perhaps hoping
for an out.
"Not much, i'm afraid." he replied, offering no reprieve.
"Add to that the Punk went out of the StealthPunk, at which point you
become one who is stealthily hiding nothing, so there's no point. You
may as well hang out with Alias and build a megamall." the MD sighed
glumly. "Hence my Fuck Change manifesto. So, how's you?"
Hm, living on a tropical island and not having gone to a beach in
years?
Other than that...

Working crazy hours for next to no money. I've been involved with a
local sci-fi/anime/everything-else convention which has been growing
almost too fast to handle. And the rest of the time trying to get a
gaming store up off the ground with a couple of friends.
Alias is building a megamall? I hope he takes the opportunity to add
some back doors and hidden tunnels.
Heard of any other "regulars"?
Charleson Mambo
"Well, apart from a and his megamalls, Goobs and her pet lurker seem
to be engaged in some sort of cloning program. ded-T is still not
quite as dead as he claims but that's about it." The MD smiles. "But
Ratz is still here and serving, so i'm going to get wasted until I
*think* everyone is here and I can see enough Mambos to do a Tango!"
MD
I ATE'NT DEAD!
Just didn't really feel like wading through the spam. Been keeping
busy working as the resident bastard for a smallish printing shop/
studio in Munich. Contentment being the enemy of creativity, I didn't
write anything in a while (code doesn't count, right?). The newspapers
here read like a bad prequel to Brazil. I'm thinking about building a
hydroponic garden on my balcony.
