Does truth matter anymore? What is truth anyway? Is truth perception
or is truth based on facts? I still believe facts are the truth of
the matter. Unfortunately, there are those who don’t care what the
facts are, to them perception is everything as long as they hear what
they want to believe.
"Who killed Vince Foster?" was a story on "60 Minutes" this week.
Three years ago a very close associate of President Clinton killed
himself according to every official agency (and there were many) who
looked into the matter. However, in spite of every official agency
proclaiming his death a suicide, there are those who persist in
claiming that he was murdered. Why? Because to promote this
outlandish lie contributes an element of doubt into the creditability
of President Clinton and secondly those ignorant enough to believe
what they are told instead of checking the facts themselves contribute
money to keep the movement alive by purchasing the vile video. "60
Minutes" exposed lie after lie in the video tape these unscrupulous
people are selling. Jerry Falwell, the upright "Christian" leader is
among them. Does it matter that they are outright lies? Apparently
not, Jerry is preaching morality to America. But them again so is Bob
Dole, Newt and the only one to be divorced more then those two, Rush
Limbaugh. Family values, right. These days you don’t need a gun to
kill someone, you just need a forum to kill them by innuendo or flat
out lies. Truth and facts have nothing to do with it. You kill them
by perception.
"Primary Colors" is a perfect example. This is a book which was
written anonymously depicting unscrupulous activities surrounding then
candidate Bill Clinton. An instant success, "Primary Colors" became
the bible for those who were unhappy with Clinton winning the election
four years ago. And then it happened, the author was identified and
on national television admitted that he made it all up. Allow me to
say that again, the author admitted that "Primary Colors" was a
fabrication of his imagination and not based on facts. "Primary
Colors" is a vicious lie and yet when I pointed that out to a Dole
supporter who had also seen the newscast, it didn’t change his opinion
of Clinton.
He told me that the author was lying when he said that he made it all
up. Unbelievable! Indeed the pen is mightier than the sward!
Then there is Whitewater. Million upon millions of dollars have been
spent over four years in one of the most intense and expensive
investigations/smear campaigns in American history and still there are
those who believe Clinton is a crook. Again, it’s all based on
perception, not facts. The investigation has ended and Clinton has
not been charged with anything. Zero. Nada. Nothing. Zip. End of
subject. And you the taxpayer paid for it all complements of the
republicans. Don’t be fooled. Think for yourself.
You don’t need to share my point of view. All I ask is that before
you take something you hear for fact, check it out and then come to
your own conclusion even if the facts are not what you want to hear.
Don’t be afraid of the truth. The truth will set you free.
