MOSCOW, April 9 (Reuters) - Russia's hard hit budget saw a 30 percent
rise in cash receipts from tax and customs duties in the first quarter
of the year, a Finance Ministry official said on Thursday.
``In real figures, that is taking into account inflation, the growth
was 20 percent,'' First Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Ignatyev told
He said the comparison was against the first quarter of 1997 but he
did not give receipts in rouble terms.
A regular government report, presented to parliament in late February,
said early data showed budget revenues in January-February were 47.8
billion roubles ($8 billion), or 52.2 percent of target for the entire
The report said that in the same period budget spending was 38.6
billion roubles or 63.5 percent of first quarter plans.
It also said the share of tax receipts in budget revenues was 33.8
