Is he funny? Or do you think he's just a schlep.

I always liked Rip's "$1.98 Beauty Contest"! It came on right after the
"Gong Show"...

His gay prance is pretty much what made him famous. I remember seeing him
alot on Hollywood Squares or something like that. They even mention him in
Wayne's World, where Tia Carrere's character says that Rip Taylor is a God
in her home country of Hong Kong.

I think Rip was probably a "Peter Puffer" but he was still funnier than
sh*t!!!! I miss the gong show too.

I was never a big fan of Rip Taylor but I have to admit he livened up wherever
he was at. I remember him always throwing confetti in the audience on "The
Tonight Show", and when Hollywood Squares had its Storybook Squares weeks I
remember hearing he once played General Custer, complete with all the arrows
sticking out.

He was funny as all get out in Cheech & Chong's 'Thing's Are Tough All
Over'.

This is the flic where C&C were driving a caddy cross country to Vegas for 2
mobsters. They played dual roles in it. Cheech played an arab type guy who
had trouble saying "hair peice" to the point where it came out as " herpes".
Their car broke down in the middle of the desert so they started walking.
Chong found some peyote. Well a little bit later Rip Taylor drives by &
picks them up. He starts rattlin' off a string of one liners that has Chong
in stitches cause he is so high. I think this was their 4th movie right
after they made Nice Dreams.

I remember the first time I saw this movie. I was watching it at a
friend's house, and when C&C with Rip Taylor got to the restaurant in
Vegas, and the waiter was describing the daily specials while Chong
was tripping balls, one of the guys I was watching with was
_literally_ ROFLHAO. This was the only time i'd ever seen someone
"rolling on the floor laughing". Very Funny Movie. would make a great
DVD.

Thanks for the reminding me of that scene. As soon as I started
reading that, I said "oh yeah" I remember.

Just like the Harry Nilson post, I need a B12 and Ginko injection for
my memory failure.

I thought he was hysterical, he always cracked me up just looking
at him and when the confetti came out I was on the floor laughing
at everyone's reaction. I may not have great taste but I know what
I like :-)

Dawwwwwww. *he dips one toe in the sand makes circles with his head hung low*

I'm rifling through pictures for the website and it's just so hard to pick a
good one that everybody should see.

Question: Do you know where I can find the theme song to "The Muppet Show" -
you know - "It's time to start the music, it's time to light the lights, it's
time to get things started on the muppet show tonight. . ."

Very, very fond memories for me!

It is on one of the TeeVee Toons compilations, I believe the first one to
feature late 70s and 80s themes. I have that one.

Cheech and Chong are hired by some Arabs to drive a car to Las Vegas (I
think it was Vegas anyway). Cheech and Chong play themselves and the Arabs.
In the car is over one million dollars in the underside of the seat. They're
really delivering the money, but they don't know that and end up selling the
car piece by piece to have enough money to drive there.
Not the best of their movies, but still funny. Too bad they're no longer
together.
