Oil Impressionist
little something!
Tonight was a great night for me. Just about everyone we know in
Tucson showed up for my big exhibit reception. It was fantastic to see
all our friends meeting each other, and it was wonderful to meet new
folks who came to see my art. I even talked to a young man who is just
starting out as an artist, and he asked advice. Incredible!!
One thing I thought of as I was spending a quiet moment sitting next to
Larry, munching finger food, drinking champagne, and watching all these
folks together . . . how I wished each and every one of you could have
been there. It would have made it the most perfect night.

nice to be there. Even if I know absolutely NOTHING about art it still
woulda been a gas!! I do tho remember one of your paintings from your
website. I think it was called 'Dark As Day', is that it?? Anyway I LOVED
looking at that one. I hoped you sold everything & made you just a butt-load

I used to hire my sister, for my allowance, to draw maps for geography and
was once criticized by my science teacher for drawing an amoeba that didn't
look like an aboeba - how pathetic is it that I couldn't even draw a
single-celled blob ;)

First of all, Billy, it's Dark as Daylight, and it's also my most
popular painting.
And hey, I did sell a painting from a contact who saw my exhibit.
Someone I've never even met! That was great.
John's Armageddon could be made into a print, Patricia, but the
painting itself was a commissioned work which is now in Saskatchewan,
Canada. Believe it or not, I was very happy as I painted that piece.
Everyone thinks it's so dark and energized or . . . something. I just
slopped on the paint.
As far as our novel at Barnes & Noble . . . we don't know what the hold
up is there. They've ordered the copies from our publisher and all.
They just need to get our page up there, we guess. It'll be in
paperback in the spring, if things keep progressing as they have been.
Gee, guys, I'm so happy that you've all been to see my paintings, and I
hadn't thought of the fact that it makes you proud. Man, that's a lot
to live up to. I hope I can do it. :)

Is the print info for John's Armageddon on your site? I don't remember
seeing anything specifically for that one. Just curious - what did the
person who commissioned the piece ask for? It just goes so show that 20
people can look at a work of art and see 20 different things - part of what
makes art so truly amazing!!!!!!!!!

You're right; I don't have that info on the site. I believe those
prints are in the fifty to seventy-five dollar range. They would be
made from a photo, so that's why they'd be cheaper. The pics our
printer has are good representations though. Anyway, it all depends on
the size you would be interested in. The original painting is 16X20.

I was commissioned to do a 16x20 "Pollack-like" Abstract Impressionist
painting in red, white, and black. Those were the only guidelines. I
actually had to add more "drippings" before the collector okayed it.
He loves it!!
FYI, I would do another of the same type in a minute, if I were
commissioned! It was fun. <hint, hint, hint>

an art connosieur, but I can appreciate a nice painting when I see one.
I especially love a painting of a tropical beach with palm trees in it!
