I've recently had the pleasure of being exposed to a number of recordings of
what was described to me as traditional Tibetan music, and found the
experience extremely disconcerting -- to have not discovered this
beautifully evocative music before now greatly depresses me! :-)
I am a complete neophyte in ways of Tibetan culture (slightly less so in
Tibetan "politics"), but hope to learn more. To that end, I'd like to
solicit any recommendations for music and/or explanatory texts to the
significance and meaning of recordings I may come across. An artist
(possibly an ensemble?) with whom I was particularly enamored was Yungchen
Lhamo. If you have specific titles or resources to share, I'd love to hear
of them. Direct email or posts here are equally welcome.
Thank you very much!

I am also in love with Yungchen Lhamo's music because I think she can
truly sing. I have been to more than ten of her concert here alone in
NYC and Most of them she did a cappella. One concert she did with Peter
Gabriel in New Port film festival and it blew my mind. Her Songs are
Totally different from other Tibetan Music. Recently out of no where
she did Tour across USA with Billy Corgan Lead Singer from Smashing
Pumkin and also happened to be in Seatle.
Here are some songs I reccomend to you
