In January, next week, in fact, we will be bringing you live daily coverage
of the 2004 North American Figure Skating Championships. Will Michelle Kwan
win her 9th title this year.
We will be bringing you Four Continents competition from Hamilton, Canada
in January. This will be the first time that Canada has hosted Four
Continents, since the competition started in 1999. I have received confirmation
of my rental car out of Buffalo, so I will be driving from Buffalo to
Hamilton to cover the competition.
In March we will be brinnging you the World Figure Skating Championships
from Dortmund, Germany. As an aside, if you are going to Dortmund, the
closest airport is in Amasterdam, and you will have to drive about 240
km to Dortmund.
The biggest event of the year will be in August, when we cover the Summer
Olympics in Athens. We plan to IRC-cast a few events where Aussies will be
competing, particularly swimming, gymnastics, and basketball. Could this be
the year the Australia finally tops the Americans in basketball. They have
come close a couple of times, particularly at the 1996 Olympics and 1998
Goodwill Games. Could an Australian gymnast win gold this year? Follow along
as the ever-dominant Australian swimming team racks up even more gold medals.
And be with us when the 2004-2005 figure skating season gets under way.
This coming season will give a good indication of who will prevail at the
2006 Olympics. Will another Aussie surprise all and take the gold in 2006?
The 2004-2005 season will give a good indication. Sara Hughes surprised all
and won the Olympic gold in 2002 for Australia.
