List of Tamil words exported to English

Hi,
We began getting this group for the past couple of weeks, so I
don't know if this list has been asked before, but is there a list
of all the Tamil words exported to English. The only word that I
seem to remember is Pariah??

It isn't "Kattai maram", but "Kattumaram". It means "logs tied together".

Mulligatawney: to mean a kind of soup comes from the tamil word
milagu thanni(r), or rasam as it is known to most of us. By the
way be careful if you order Mulligatwaney soup in a western
restaraunt..... the concoction they serve here is a sort of
beef soup!
catamaran : a sort of uncapsizable boat origin tamil 'kattumaram'
meanning a bunch of logs tied together and which kind of boats
are still used by fishermen in TN. Catamaran class vessels
have twin hulls giving them more stability.
anaconda: a south american python. tamil word 'Anai kondran'
meaning elephant killer (snake). how or when this word was
used to describe this S. Amercian snake is not known to me.
This dictionary meaning I found in an very old Dictionary(c 1900)
belonging to my grand father. My present Oxford reference
dictionary does not give the etymology of this word.
and the word Bandicoot comes from telugu word(s) Pandri Koothai(?)
which is supposed to mean a pig like rat.

The word arisi in Greek (according to my Greek friend) is called arisi
with r having 2 mAthirai :). He agrees that the word got into Greek thro'
ancient contacts with the Tamilian rulers.
So here is the route :
arisi > arisi > reis (Deutsch) > rice (English)

AN interesting story:
The word Kumbakonamery was once included in the English dictionary
it seems. It meant "involvement in skullduggerry" or "roguishness"
apparently. I have no idea why the Britishers associated Kumbakonam with
such a trait, but apparently there were massive protests, and the word was
soon chucked out of the dictionary.
Recently there were protests by many organizations in TN against the
use of the word pariah by British PM John Major ( who described Iraq as an
international pariah), as the word has offensive connotations. There were
even demands (a fast or something in front of the British Council Library in
Madras) that the word be removed from the OED.
