PRC Assistant Foreign Minister Shen Guofang said, "What he talked about
were just his personal views."
On Thursday in an interview with foreign reporters, Major General Zhu
Chenghu, also a dean at National Defense University, made the comments:
......
We Chinese will prepare ourselves for the destruction of all cities
east of Xian [in central China]. Of course the Americans will have to
be prepared that hundreds of cities will be destroyed by the Chinese.

An outline of the article:
* Taipei criticized Zhu's remark but stayed clear
of blaming the Chinese government.
* Andy Rothman, a China strategist with brokerage CLSA
in Shanghai, said "This one sentence from a PRC
general has probably nuked any remaining possibility
that CNOOC will succeed in its bid for Unocal."
* Michael O'Hanlon, defense analyst at the Brookings
Institution, said "He was right on the merits, but
as a policy statement it was a stupid thing to say."

Our general is just prepping himself for emigration to the US where he
has a Neo-Con consultant's job open for him.

General Zhu said that China is willing to accept "the destruction of
all cities east of Xian" in exchange of a small chance to take Taiwan
by force instead of waiting a bit longer for a peaceful reunification
of Taiwan which is what is supported by all significant nations of the
world?? I don't think so. LOL!
General Zhu is clearly a complete idiot.
We have our own idiot generals and idiot used-to-be high government
officials in America as well: Wesley Clark, G. Gordon Liddy, E. Howard
Hunt, Joseph McCarthy, and the lovable Alexander Haig. Lets also not
forget the great Dennis J. Kucinich who personally ran an entire city
into bankruptcy while he was the mayor. The good news is that every
great nation seems to survive just fine even with its "idiots" in
government spouting foolishness in public forums.
McCormack described the comment as "irresponsible".

......
QUESTION: I'm sure you saw the comments by the Chinese
general on the question of whether or not China
should reserve the right for a first strike
against the United States to using nuclear
weapons if it gets to that point. Any reaction
on it?
MR. MCCORMACK: Well, I think that we would say that I hope
that these comments don't reflect the views of
the Chinese Government. I haven't seen all the
remarks, but what I've seen of them, I would say
that they were highly irresponsible. But again,
we hope that these are not the views of the
Chinese Government.
The United States is not a threat to China. We
have a broad and deep relationship in which we are
trying to -- we try to work closely with the
Chinese Government on a variety of issues. The
Secretary has talked about the fact that this is a
relationship that is probably the best U.S.-China
relationship we've seen in quite some time. There
are mixed elements to it. But again, she was just
there and had good discussions with Chinese
leaderships. Secretary Zoellick is going to be
traveling to China later this month to begin a
strategic dialogue with the Chinese leadership.
So we have, we believe, constructive -- good,
constructive relations with China and I think that
the remarks from that one individual are
unfortunate.

Mark, So far I haven't seen any convincing argument that reunification
is good or necessarily for the Taiwanese, or that Taiwanese general
populous is even mildly interested in reunification at all.
What would your response be if Taiwanese come out and flatly refuse to
your so-called "peaceful reunification" offer? Why won't you, or would
you, respect their choice?

What makes you think that you're better than him?

Okay, so we call them "Gong Fei", they call us "Chaing Fei". All part
of China's civil war. As a Taiwanese American, my sentiment is that as
soon as US get out of the business of continuting China's civil war,
the sooner peaceful resolution can be achieved.
Taiwan doesn't get a choice any more than Florida gets to choose
whether it is part of America or not.

Because Me, the United Nations, The United States Government since
Jimmy Carter, and over a hundred major nations of the world all agree
on a peaceful plan which is already mapped out and in work and this
idiot Chinese General is talking about using nuclear weapons to instead
destroy everything China has built. Stupid move, Zhu! You need to be
sent off to guard the Siberian front. Don't be surprised if you don't
hear much out of Zhu from now on. LOL!

Oh. I forgot to add that lying idiot, Joe Wilson, to the distinguished
list of fools in American government.
An outline of this article:
* Evan Medeiros, an expert on Chinese military at the Rand
Corp., said, "Regardless of how many disclaimers there are,
the fact is that a general in the P.L.A. made a highly
provocative threat about using nuclear weapons first in a
conflict with the U.S."
* Near the end of his comments last week, Zhu added that he
was confident the U.S. and China would not go to war
"unless the politicians of these two countries go mad."
Keeping the generals in check might help, too.
Funny that Charles Liu dont ask Russian troops to leave china today and
say peace is gonnaa prevail then.
