The inspiring story of Jesus the Messiah son of Mary Peace and
Blessings be upon him. His birth and his ascension have been related
in the Holy Quran and his eventual descension, in Hadith (Tradition )
all in a manner that does justice to a saga of spectacular truth and
bears witness to the Messiah Jesus son of Mary who is held in honour
by over one billion five hundred million Muslims world-wide. It is
quite exciting to read of the mission of Jesus (pbuh) and the many
intrigues made by his detractors to distort the truth and to portray
Jesus (pbuh) in a manner, which is degrading to his noble mission. The
truth as embodied in the Holy Quran with its many inspiring verses
relating to the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) and his venerable mother Mary,
implants upon the Muslim conscience a deep and lasting reverence for
Jesus (pbuh). There are no illusions in the hearts and minds of the
Muslims. We are fully aware of the spiritual guidance given, not only
by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) but also by all of his illustrious
predecessors. It is the life lived by the great Prophets of the past
that serves as a guide and enlightens our path through life. Muslims
do not worship, but deeply love and revere all the Prophets sent by
Allah (God). All the Prophets themselves worshipped Allah (God) and
they taught us to do the same. In the Holy Quran Jesus (pbuh) is
addressed as Issa ibn Mariam al Misah, which translated means Jesus
the son of Mary the Messiah.
1. I first went to the dictionary and looked up the word Jesus.
Here is what I found. In Hebrew he is called Yeshua. In Greek Iesous
and in Latin Iesus and as I have said in Arabic it is Issa. Then I
looked up the word Christ. It is a Greek word termed Christos, in
Latin it is Christus. The word means the Anointed, Jesus the Anointed
and Jesus the Christ. It is certain that the word Christ is not a name
but rather a Title. It may come as a surprise to many of you who have
not read the Quran , that it is the Quran that presents us with a true
picture of Jesus the Messiah son of Mary.
. Jesus was an Orthodox Jew, a direct descendant of the Prophet David.
Jesus was not a Christian. He did not build or create a church nor did
he found a new religion. In fact he was always seen speaking in the
synagogues and he was called Rabbi Yeshua. He spoke the Aramaic
dialect of northern Israel. Jesus (pbuh) was a reverent worshipper.
He was seen praying always to Eloah (God) and not to himself. Which
goes to prove that Jesus was not Divine, Jesus was not a God but a
devout and humble servant of God. In Luke 4 of the New American
Standard Bible, we read that Jesus spent forty-day fasting in the
wilderness. Does God fast? During this time Satan consistently
challenged him to prove that he was God the Son. Read Verse 3-"and the
devil said to Him, if You are the Son of God, tell this stone to
become God" Read verse 5- "and he led Him up and showed Him all the
kingdoms of the world in a moment of time". Read verse 6- "and the
devil said to Him, "I will give you all this domain and its glory;
for it has been handed over to me and I give it to whomever I wish".
Read verse 7- "Therefore if you worship me it shall all be yours".
Here is the Devil, Satan speaking. Satan knows God for
he was banished from God’s presence because he refused to obey God’s
command. To offer God that which God created would be the height of
absurdity. We can be certain that Satan knew that Jesus was not God;
but that he was only human, a prophet of God. What stronger evidence
do we need that Jesus is not divine? He is not God the Son; but he was
a human being chosen by God being His final Messenger and Prophet to
the Israelites. There are many that argue that Jesus had two sides. A
spiritual side and a human side, we do not argue this fact. What we
say is that having a spiritual and human side is not exclusive to
Jesus. We all have a human and a spiritual side; but does that make us
a God? We are all born of the earth and to it we will return; but on
the spiritual side our spirit or soul does not die but continues to
live even after death. Some will argue that Jesus (pbuh) is not
like us in that he was born of a virgin mother having no father. Adam
was born without a father. Does that make him divine? No, Adam was
human as we are, he being the first father of the human race. The Holy
Quran says:
"Certainly the status of Jesus in the eyes of God is like the status
of Adam. He created him from dust. He said 'BE' and so he was".
Neither Jesus nor Adam is God, because neither is a creator; but they
were both created. Islam and Christianity both agree that Jesus (pbuh)
was a pious and holy man and that he lived in this world as a person
who suffered pain and sorrow.
Where Jesus was born, when he was born, and how long was his mission
is in dispute even by eminent Christian theologians. Jesus birthplace
is not mentioned in the Gospel according to Mark and John. Matthew and
Luke are also not in agreement. Bethlehem was probably chosen being
the City of David, to connect Jesus descent from the Prophet David.
Many Christian theologians accept Nazareth as being the most likely
location, but nothing is confirmed. Without a doubt Nazareth was the
home of the Virgin Mary; but we know that at the age of 12 years
Zachariah was chosen as her Guardian and that she spent many years
serving in the Synagogue in Jerusalem The Quran and Christian
Apocryphal writings mentions the contention between the
Priests as to who was to take charge of Mary. The Quran says: "You
(Muhammad) (pbuh) was not with them when they (the Priests) cast lots
with arrows as to which of them should be charged with the care of
Mary Quran 3:43 "Right graciously did her Lord accept her. He made her
grow in purity and beauty, to the care of Zachariah was she assigned.
Quran 3:37 Every time he entered (her) chamber to see her, he found
her supplied with sustenance (food). He said: O Mary where comes this
to you? She said, "From Allah for Allah provides sustenance to whom He
pleases without measure". Quran 3:38 At some point it is not clear an
Angel appears before Mary saying: " O Mary Allah (God) has chosen you
and purified you, chosen you above the women of all nations" Quran
3:43 "Behold the angel said: O Mary! Allah (God) gives you glad
tidings of a Word from Him, his name will be Messiah Jesus the son
of Mary, held in honor in this world and in the hereafter and of the
company of those nearest to Allah (God) Quran 3:45 Jesus was born of
the Virgin Mary by a special command of Allah (God). That command was
BE, the same command given at the time of the creation of Adam and
Eve. Having conceived by the command BE, Mary withdrew from her people
to a remote place, a place of privacy (for prayers and devotion). When
she felt the time had come to give birth, she sought refuge in an
obscure place under a palm tree where the birth of her son took place.
The voice of the angel called out to her, "Grieve not nor fear, God
has provided a stream of water for you. Shake towards yourself the
trunk of the palm tree; let fresh ripe dates fall upon you. So eat and
drink and cool your eye". Quran 19: 24-25 We see that while
she was alone in her ordeal, divine providence assured her of water,
food and protection. It is logical to assume that having delivered her
child that she would seek refuge from the cool of the evening. It is
quite possible that she did retire to a stable, which would be warm.
We do not however believe that she gave birth in a stable. It would
appear from the Quran that the birth of Jesus took place close to
Jerusalem. It is reasonable to believe that she would first take her
child Jesus and go to the home of her cousin Elizabeth the wife of
Zachariah. Elizabeth had just given birth to Yahya (John the Baptist).
(pbuh) The two children are cousins and Mary would have spent some
time there. This is confirmed by the statement that Jesus was
circumcised eight days after his birth in the Temple in Jerusalem.
Luke, 2:21Sometime later Mary returned to Nazareth carrying her son.
When her people saw her carrying a child they were furious. They began
by accusing her of having committed a social crime. Being Orthodox
Jews, the law was strict. Anyone who committed adultery or gave birth
out of wedlock was to be stoned to death. How was it that her people
did not carry out the law of God? The Holy Quran is very explicit on
this point. Upon being confronted by her people, Mary could only point
to the child. The people responded by saying how can we speak to a
child in the crib. It was at this point that Jesus (pbuh) performed
the first miracle. Did you get that; this was the first Miracle
performed by Jesus (pbuh). He spoke in defense of his mother
saying: "I am indeed a servant of Allah (God). He has given me
revelation and made me a Prophet and He has made me blessed wherever
I am and He has enjoined on me prayer and charity as long as I live.
He has made me kind towards my mother. Has not made me arrogant,
unblessed. Peace be on me the day I was born, the day I shall die and
the day I shall be raised alive".
"Such was the statement of Jesus son of Mary, concerning which many
(people) doubt". Quran 19: 30 34. It was this Miracle no doubt that
prevented the People of Nazareth from stoning Mary to death and with
having removed all doubts which her people had about her and her son
Jesus. Ask any Christian how was it that Mary was not stoned to death
and they do not have an answer.
Now enters upon the scene Joseph the subrogate father of Jesus. Joseph
was apparently engaged to Mary, but they may not have married until
after the birth of Jesus. It is reported that Joseph had a dream in
which the angel called upon him to take his wife Mary and her son
Jesus to Egypt and to remain there until advised otherwise. Herod the
King of Judea had received word that a boy had been born who was
destined to be the King of the Jews.
Consequently he instituted a search to find the infant and to kill
him. There is no historical evidence of a slaughter having taken
place. After the death of King Herod in 4 B.C. the angel appeared
again to Joseph informing him that it is safe to return with Jesus.
Jesus was returned not to Judea but to Galilee. The Prophet Jesus
(pbuh) was an Orthodox Jew who came "not to destroy" but to confirm
the original teachings of Moses that had been altered by the Rabbis
over the years. He did not write the Gospel. The first recordings that
we have of what Jesus said and taught is entitled the Shepherd of
Hermas, which says, "First of all believe that God is One and that He
created all things and organized them and out of what did not exist
made all things to be. He contains all things but alone is Himself
contained". See Apostolic Fathers by Edgar J. Goodspeed also see end
of 4th Century Codex Sinaiticus of the Greek Bible. Theodore Zahn in
his article on faith of early Christians writes, that until the year
250 AD the followers of Jesus attested, "I believe in God Almighty".
Between 180 and 250 AD the word 'Father' had been inserted by unknown
writers. "I believe in God Father Almighty". The Bishops, Victor and
Zeephysius both contested this addition saying you cannot add or
delete one word from the scripture. They opposed the tendency to
regard Jesus as being divine .See, Articles of the Apostolic Creed by
Theodore Zahn Jesus (pbuh) would never have used the word 'Father'
in the biological sense. He was sent to demolish the many myths that
had crept into the Jewish teachings. As such he would have used the
word Eloah when addressing God. Eloah is the singular of the word
Elohim used by many Jews then and today. The mission of Jesus was of a
short duration and we know little of what he said and did, but we know
of his betrayal by the Jews who opposed his mission. The triumph of
the miraculous and physica ascension of Jesus is beautifully portrayed
in the Holy Quran. Jesus was neither killed nor was he crucified; but
his enemy was put indoubt. "I did restrain the children of Israel from
(violence) to you (Jesus)" 5:110 The Jews had been planning for
sometime against Jesus, not only when they turned him over to Pilate.
This verse in the Holy Quran indicates that the Jews were planning
against Jesus but God had His own plan. If God says He has
restrained the Jews from harming Jesus, then the crucifixion is a
fallacy and the Jews could never have inflicted punishment on Jesus.
The Holy Quran says "They (the Jews) planned and God planned and who
is better in planning than God?"Quran 3:54 The Quran relates the true
story of the Mystery and God bestows upon Jesus great honor in saving
him from a dishonorable death at the hands of his enemy. It records
the failure of his enemy to disgrace him, God having miraculously
raised Jesus up in body and alive had thereby greatly honored him. A
similar plot occurred at the time of Muhammad (pbuh) when the Quraish
planned to kill Muhammad (pbuh), but God had His own plan The Prophet
migrated to Medina leaving his cousin Ali in his home. When the
Quraish attacked they found Ali asleep in Muhammads bed. They were
defeated in their plot to kill the Prophet who had migrated to
Medina. The Prophet was to return ten years later to Mecca in triumph
After a brief skirmish the Quraish surrendered and Muhammad (pbuh)
forgave them. They eventually became Muslims. In the case of Jesus
(pbuh), he has been taken up and will eventually also return in
triumph. Research reveals that the High Priests and the Elders
assembled to arrest and to turn Jesus over to Pilate to be crucified.
Accompanied by the Betrayer Judas, they went to where Jesus was
praying. Judas greeted Jesus saying 'Hail Rabbi". Jesus was then
arrested and taken to the home of Caiaphas the High Priest where he
was interrogated. He refused to answer any of the questions put to
him; but when the High Priest put it bluntly, are you the Messiah?
Jesus replied, Yes I am and hereafter you will see the son of man
coming in the clouds. By admitting that he was the Messiah sent to the
Jews he had committed blasphemy in the eye of the High Priests and the
Elders. The greater part of the Jews at the time had not recognized
Jesus as being the Messiah, not then and not today.
He was accused of blasphemy and breaking of the Jewish Law. Jesus was
then taken to Pontius Pilate the Acting Governor of Judaea. Pilate
seeing that Jesus was a Galilean sent him to Herod the Governor of
Galilee who was in Jerusalem at the time. Herod received him most
graciously. Finding no fault with Jesus he sent him back to Pilate.
Pilate's wife had reported to her husband (Pilate) that she had had
dreams about Jesus and she begged him not to do anything harmful to
this good man. Pilate then questioned Jesus and being satisfied of his
innocence. He reported to the Jews waiting outside that he could not
find Jesus guilty as they had charged. They (the Jews) cried out,
Crucify him! Crucify him! In a sense of frustration Pilate took
water and washed his hands saying "I am innocent of this mans blood,
it is your responsibility". Matthew, 27:24 Pilate had now to decide
what to do. He returns to his court. The Great Switcheroo is about to
take place .It seems certain that he switched prisoners. He then
commanded his soldiers to scourge the prisoner, to place on his head a
crown of thorns and then to dress him in a loose fitting purple rob.
It was in this disguise that he took the prisoner out saying to the
Jews, Here is Jesus. Why did he have to say here is Jesus if it was
really Jesus? It could only have been to convince the Jews that it was
Jesus that was about to be crucified. He then handed the prisoner over
to the soldiers to be crucified (See Matthews, 27:28-29). There
were many plotters involved and what happened is anyone's guess. We
know of a certainty that it was not Jesus who was about to be
crucified. The Quranic teachings is very explicit when it said "The
Jews said in boast, we killed the Messiah Jesus the son of Mary, the
Messenger of God" then a quick caveat is added "But they killed him
not, nor was he crucified; but it was made to appear so to them. And
those who differ therein are full of doubts with no (certain)
knowledge, but only conjecture to follow. For of a surety they
killed him not" "Nay, God raised him up unto himself". Quran: 4:
157-58 Muslim theologians have assumed that some one made to appear
like Jesus was arrested by the Jews What is more likely, is that
Pontius Pilate under pressure had made the switch substituting
another prisoner to be crucified. Pilate's wife would be very happy. A
couple of days later, with rumor going around that Jesus had been
crucified. Even his own disciples who fled became convinced that he
had been crucified. Suddenly here comes Jesus walking quite some
distance from Jerusalem. Walking? Yes! Can you believe it? He greeted
his disciples and they were shocked. They didn't know what to think
or believe. Were they seeing a ghost? They could not believe that it
was Jesus himself. Jesus (pbuh) set about to alleviate their fears. To
convince them that it was he Jesus, whom they were seeing, he
displayed his hands and feet. Indicating, look can you see any nail
holes? I was not crucified. To further convince them that he was not a
ghost he asked for something to eat. He was given fish, which he
ate. Does a ghost or a spirit eat human food? One of the disciples was
missing at the gathering. "Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus
was not with them when Jesus came." John 20:24This Thomas has been
called the "doubting Thomas", because while all the other disciples
were convinced by the rumors circulating that Jesus had been
crucified. Thomas doubted that the event ever occurred. He told the
other disciples that unless he saw Jesus and witnessed the holes in
his hands and feet he would never believe that Jesus had suffered the
crucifixion. Later Jesus met again with the disciples and Thomas was
present. Jesus admired that of all his disciples, only Thomas had
doubted the crucifixion. He showed Thomas his hands and
feet, no holes. All the disciples were now convinced that Jesus had
never suffered the crucifixion. Having alleviated their fears and
instilled new confidence in his disciples, he bade them good bye. He
was last seen walking up the side of the mountain and disappearing in
the clouds. What the disciples were actually witnessing was Jesus
being taken up by the angels alive and in body. He had not been killed
nor crucified, but was taken up.
As Muslims we are truly convinced by all that transpired and what is
related in the Holy Quran, that Jesus did not suffer the crucifixion.
The Bible wherein we read that the person being crucified cried out,
"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me", this confirms that Jesus
was not crucified. Here we have the individual undoubtedly a Jew
calling out to God to save him. Can we believe that Jesus (pbuh) while
allegedly nailed to the cross, attacked and reprimanded God in a tone
of reproach, accusing Him of having forsaken him? Are we to assume
that the Jesus has lost confidence in God and in himself? Here is
Jesus being God incarnate according to the New Testament
calling out and reprimanding himself .How ridiculous! In the Quran,
Chapter 112 entitled The Unity: we read In the name of Allah Most
Gracious, Most Merciful. "Say: He God is Unique, God the source (for
everything) .He has not begotten anyone nor was He himself begotten
and there is nothing comparable unto Him". The word 'father' cannot be
attributed to God. His Very name 'Allah' is in the neuter gender,
being neither masculine nor feminine and it is singular not plural.
Jesus of a surety would not be addressing God as father in a
biological sense. Hammudah Abdalati in his book, Islam in Focus
presents a convincing argument for denying the crucifixion .He says 1.
Can the crucifixion be reconciled with justice, mercy, power and the
wisdom of God? 2. Is the death of Jesus at the hands of his enemy
consistent with the providence of God? 3. Is it feasible to believe
that God who forgave Adam and Eve their sin, would need a sacrifice
of Jesus to forgive the human race?" A very compelling argument from
the Islamic perspective. God the all Powerful certainly would not have
allowed his beloved Prophet and Messenger to be crucified. It is
beyond all reason to believe that Jesus was killed. If such an event
did happen, who was it that resurrected Jesus, the "God incarnate" in
Christianity? Are we to assume that there is another power greater
then God? There is no doubt in the Muslim mind that Jesus was not
crucified but was taken up, bodily and alive. that he will eventually
return. We have it on the attestation of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh),
who said under oath, "Just as sure as the sun rises in the East and
sets in the West, Jesus the Messiah will make an appearance
at a time when the world will be embroiled in an unprecedented
conflict.
When the hour is come everyone will witness his coming". That Jesus
the Messiah will descend at the end time is not in doubt. It is
written in the Hadith (sayings ) of the Prophet Muhammed, (peace be
upon him)what will happen when Jesus returns:
1. He will descend at the white minaret of the Ommaya Mosque on the
East Side of Damascus, wearing two garments of saffron colour, with
his hands resting on the wing tips of two angels.
2. He will proceed to the Mosque , it being the time of the Friday
prayer.
3. He will join the Muslims in prayer, for like all Muslims Jesus was
circumcised, never ate pork and always preformed ablution before
prayer. He will stand in the last row, bow and prostate as all Muslims
do and as he was observed to have done before his ascension.
4. Following the Friday prayer he will proceed to visit the tomb of
his cousin Yahya, (John the Baptist) who is buried in this Mosque. He
will no doubt offer prayers for his cousin who baptized him in the
Jordan River.
5. He will then call upon the believing people. Note the words
(believing people) to join with him in apprehending the Anti-Christ
who is in Jerusalem. The Anti-Christ being made aware of the descent
of Jesus in Damascus will seek to escape from Jerusalem by fleeing to
a small village, Lud. Today Lud is the site of the International
Airport outside of Tel-Aviv. He will no doubt seek to escape to the
United States.
6. Jesus (pbuh) and his followers will intercept him. Having
confronted the Anti-Christ, with his false identity, claiming to be
the Messiah sent to the Jews. Jesus will expose him as the
Impersonator that he is. His reign as an Impersonator will come to a
dramatic and sudden end. The Jews having lauded the Anti-Christ as
their Messiah and having witnessed his apprehension, will shamefully,
after two thousand years or more admit to Jesus as being the True
Messiah Those among the Jews who refuse to accept Jesus as being the
Messiah will suffer the same fate as the Anti-Christ, With the
apprehension of the Anti-Christ a period of upheaval will no doubt
ensue. This may well be the anticipated 'Battle of Armageddon on the
plains of Esdraelon. The battle will be between the Believers and the
Unbelievers. The believers under Jesus will be triumphant. Jesus
(pbuh) will then set about to complete his mission. He will reprove
those among his followers who have exalted him, a Messenger and
Servant of God, to the status of God. He will also destroy the Myth of
the Cross, that portrays him as having been crucified. The Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh) is reported to have said, "Life of plentifulness
will be beyond words after Jesus descension. The sky will be directed
to pour down rain and the earth to furnish her fruit until a seed will
be able to take root on a stone. Peace and comfort will prevail to the
extent that a lion will pass by a human without causing the least
injury. Malice and ill-will will be unknown. It is written in the
books of Hadith that Jesus will marry and raise a family and like all
human beings he will eventually die and be buried. At the resurrection
he will be raised up with all the other prophets, each to bear witness
before God for the action of his people. During the last century, an
immense amount of research has been done on the origin of Christianity
and the true nature of the Messiah Jesus. To some this may seem to be
a prodigious waste of time and effort. It has become clear through
research that there were two Gospel being preached. One during the
period following the ascension of Jesus and another follows the
war of 70 Ad. The earlier Gospel was entirely Jewish, a sect with its
headquarters in Jerusalem This group accepted Jesus of Nazareth as
being the Messiah sent to the Jews. Gentiles could join if they were
circumcised and were subject to the Jewish law. The other group was
the Pauline Christians with headquarters in Rome. The Gentile
Christians had never faced, nor would they have faced the question of
the nature of Jesus if it had not been for the action of Paul. It is
certain that the Jesus as preached by Paul was not the same Jesus the
Messiah, sent to the Jews. Jesus had said, "I have been sent not but
unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." "Do not think that I have
come to abolish the Law of the Prophets, I have not come to abolish
them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth
disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen,
will by any means disappear from the Law". Matthew 5:17. In Romans 7:
1 and 6 we read how Paul liberated the Christians from the Law. "Do
you not know brethren (for I am speaking to those who know the law)
that the Law has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives?
Romans 7:1"but now we have been released from the Law, (Jesus) having
died to that which is bound, so that we serve in newness of the spirit
and not in the oldness of the letter" Roman 7:6 Following this
analogy with the alleged death of Jesus (pbuh), the Law is no longer
in effect. With the resurrection a new Law, a Law of the spirit comes
into effect. Jesus who said that he did not come to destroy the Law,
the Law of the Prophets has now been completely destroyed by Paul.
Can you believe it? According to Paul, Christians are no longer under
the Law of the covenant (the Law of Moses and Jesus) but under the Law
of the Spirit. Circumcision is no longer required, although Jesus and
all his disciple were circumcised. Pork which Jesus and his disciples
never ate is now permitted, and on and on. Paul founded a new Law in a
new age. He, Paul sacrificed the real and living Jesus (pbuh) by
creating a Mythical Jesus at the altar of his ambition. Completely
annihilating the simple faith, which Jesus had taught. Paul sought to
come to terms with the Pagans by incorporating certain of their
beliefs and customs into Christianity. The Jesus of history and the
Jesus of the Pauline Church came to have little in common. Several
centuries later the events of the alleged crucifixion and the
ascension had become legend. The Christian community was now Gentile
rather than Jewish. No longer was the belief in One God an article of
Faith.
It had become a belief in the Father and Son, later was added the Holy
Ghost.
CONCLUSION:
The name of Jesus (pbuh) appears in the sacred texts of both Islam and
Christianity. But the significance attached to it is radically
different in the two religions. Muslims highly revere the Messiah
Jesus (pbuh), a Messenger of God, His servant and Prophet; while
Christians in confusion regard Jesus as the 'Son of God' and worship
him as God.. Both Muslims and Christians however await his eventual
return. Fortunately, this difference in belief between the Muslims
and Christians can be resolved by referring to the Bible and the
Quran, both teach that Jesus is not God but one of the great
Prophets. The writers of Scripture did not believe themselves that
Jesus was divine. It was only centuries later following the convening
of the First Council of Nicaea, (325.A.C). Chalcedon (451 A.C) and
the second Nicaea Council (787 A.C) that out of the Councils that
proceeded, evolved the doctrine of the Trinity and was finally
entrenched in Christianity. The Bible clearly teaches that there is
only One God, the One whom Jesus worshipped (see John 17:3) "and this
is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and
Jesus Christ whom thou has sent." Each time an older manuscript of
the Bible is discovered changes have had to be made to the Bible. In
Mark 1:1 we read, "The beginning of the Gospel about Jesus, the Son
of God. (Mark 1:1 New International Version) At the end of the verse
is a small letter directing us to look at the footnote. There are
listed some manuscripts that have deleted "Son of God". The evidence
is so compelling that in the New World Translation of the Holy Bible
the title "Son of God' has been deleted. There are many other
instances in the Bible where the new translations have made changes.
In the Acts of the Apostles chapter 8:37, a whole sentence has been
deleted. The sentence reads:" and Philip said, if thou believest with
all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that
Jesus is the Son of God" This verse has been deleted in many copies of
the bible including the New International Version. The book of Acts of
the Apostles details the activities of the Apostles for some thirty
years after Jesus. It is important to note what the disciples were
saying about Jesus, and how they referred to him. It will be seen
that invariably they referred to Jesus as a servant of God but never
as a Son of God. When the Disciples were praying they raised their
voices in prayer and concluded by saying "your holy servant Jesus whom
you anointed". Acts 4:27 This is indisputable evidence that 'Son of
God' is a blasphemous interpolation derived from Pagan sources. It is
very noticeable today that the 'Trinity' is causing grave concern
among many Christians. In the Church of England, 31 out of 39 Bishops
surveyed said they did not believe in the Trinity. The French
Magazine L'Express conducted a survey in France, the results were
revealing 84 % of the French are Roman Catholics, of those, 25%
do not believe in the crucifixion. 38% do not believe in the Trinity.
Recently the Moderator of the United Church in Canada has spoken out
against the belief in the Trinity. Many eminent Christian theologians
have also denied the Trinity and the Crucifixion.
