Travel today is better in Morocco than a few years ago. Rereading
some messages from the past couple years, I must say "they are over
the top".

As I have a Berber business partner in the Sahara Desert and a small
tour operator company- being a middle aged American woman- I can make
a few comments.
My main residence is Southern Spain. Over all there is less crime in
Morocco than the US and Spain. I feel safe walking at night in Spain
and even moreso in Morocco. Even these past years, only pesty guys
trying to be guides were a problem. Yes, in Tanger, I was robbed.
Even my partner had an attempt on him in the market in Tanger. He
will not go onto the Casablanca souk. I trust his judgement. I be
carful in Casablanca.

Other cities, no problem. Women have little trouble here.
The guide problem in Marrakech is gone... Thank goodness. Taking some
American women to Marrakech, I asked directions to a place and the
shop owners, etc were helful and no one tried to sell us anything..

Yes, the Berbers have been discriminated against. But most are
peaceful and just want to get on with life. They want their own
language respected and more rights. They do not become very involved
in the current problem of US and Arab issues. The Berbers are not Arabs
as some people know. All Moroccans want to make a living and improve
their lives. With tourism being a big industry, many improvements are
being made. Roads are being improved....Police are friendlier.

Morocco is still a safe place to visit. Better than before...

Even moreso with us. We provide tours for small groups and provide
drivers/guides who escort you and show you the sites and wonders of
Morocco.
