I think you've got your wired crossed..
the gozo channel fleet aren't trains at all.

Danish trains might be the new small trains we've got now..
There's also sightseeing double decker buses now.

A train ferry is a ship built to carry rail-vehicles but also usually
road-vehicles.
Examples of trainferry crossings are Rödby-Puttgarden,Malmö-Sassnitz.
So those old Danish railferries were used to carry cars between
Cirkewwa-Mgarr.
When I travelled they had still the signs in Danish language.
