Sir Real's question on how you got loungified is interesting.

I have always had a thing for that whole 60's jazz sound.
My current favorites are Astrud Gilberto(The original
Girl from Ipanema version) and the 60's and 90's sounds
of Herb Alpert. Astrud's slightly off-tonal vocals on some of her love
songs,
instantly transports me to this jet-age, modern feeling like I'm
chilling out, sipping icy cold vodka and tonics in the
lounge of the airport at San Juan, Puerto Rico or
Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad.
(Places I nostalgically remember
from my childhood. We lived in those cities for a few short years when I
was a kid.
It really impressed me as I've not been out of the States since. It was
like going to
Mars and discovering they have different music.)
The hip urban carribean environment exposes you to some of those
essential latin rhythms. I guess the Calypso, and Ska influences were
crucial
to the 60's.

I'd like to check out some of the modern lounge sounds.
Where do you go here in Atlanta, guys? Any ideas?
Favorite bands?

Cheers,
