JULIE LONDON
Our cover story features the sulty Miss Julie London. We're fans of the sexy
singer, and waited for years and years for SOMEONE to do an article on Miss
London. Several music magazines promised that an article on Julie London was
forthcoming, but they never made good on their promises... no articles ever
came out.
So, we figured that this was our cue to come through with the goods, so writer
Jim Minnick dug his heels in to provide us with just about everything you could
ever want to know about Julie London.
We're very pleased to present this exclusive article at Julie London's career,
and we present many seldom-seen photos of her!

TWIST RECORDS
Some of the best music we've ever found in those thrift shop bins are the
ever-present TWIST albums!! This is great stuff, and writer Glynis Ward takes
us on an illustrated tour of some of the best of these.
Did you know that just about everyone made Twist records, back in the early
'60s, including Frank Sinatra! True!

THE NUCLEAR WHALES SAXOPHONE ORCHESTRA
Quick! Name a band comprised entirely of six saxophone players! Can't do it?
Well, we can: THE NUCLEAR WHALES SAXOPHONE ORCHESTRA, and they are very cool.
With saxes ranging in size from the petite sopranino sax to the hulking
contrabass sax, these talented players are adept at a multitude of styles from
calypso to jazz to classical and beyond. Editor Dana Countryman does the honors
in interviewing TNWSO leader Don Stevens, to gain some insight into this most
unusual musical group.

PORTLAND, OREGON RECORD STORE REPORT
One of our favorite cities for finding cool and strange records is Portland,
Oregon and writer Mark P. Rafter takes us by the hand to all his favorite
shopping spots. This is a great town for finding fun vinyl at good, fair
prices, due to its abundance of both used record stores and thrift stores. If
you ever visit this Northwestern city, you need this article as your guide for
shopping!

THE ED KAZ KOLUMN
Visit with regular C&SM columnist Ed Kaz, as he spins a few of the more risque
records from his collection! The subject is Party Records, and Ed pulls out his
Doug Clark and his Hot Nuts, Ruth Wallace, Belle Barth and even his Farting
Contest records!! It's a fun, funny read and you may want to comb through your
parents' attics to find some of these audio oddities.

JULIE LONDON LP COVERS CENTERFOLD
Our Color Centerfold is a collection of some of the sexiest, most colorful
JULIE LONDON LP covers, from the collection of Editor Dana Countryman. Most of
these are very hard to find, and we're pleased to present 17 of these great
covers in brilliant color!

WILD MAN FISCHER
He's been diagnosed as "paranoid-schizophrenic"! He can't really sing! He
writes songs with titles like "My Name is Larry," "I'm Working for the Federal
Bureau of Narcotics," and "Think Of Me When You Take Your Clothes Off." He's
one of the strangest personalities ever to record! He's Larry Fischer -- better
known as WILD MAN FISCHER!
He recorded 4 albums for Rhino Records, (in fact, his was the very first record
on the legendary label!.) We have an exclusive interview with Larry, courtesy
of writer/cartoonist J. R. Williams, who really delivers the goods with this
enlightening look at one of music's most endearing and frightening "singers."

CUSTOM CHRISTMAS COMPILATIONS
Writer Dennis Flannigan's obsession is Christmas music: All styles, but the
weirder, the better. Every year he makes a new cassette or CD compilation of
Christmas music from his collection for his friends. Funny thing is-he's not
the ONLY one out there doing this! There's a small, but die-hard group of
oddball Christmas music collectors, and Dennis interviews four of these crazed
collectors in his article for us.
